I heard Iger was subdued but furious during the corporate conference call. Disney paid $4 billion dollars for the Star Wars brand, and it looks like Kathleen Kennedy may have killed it in less than 5 years.
All of the horrible editing, horrible writing, bad editing aside. One of the things that sunk this new trilogy is the poor casting I really don’t like any of the new main characters but then again it could be that the writing is what ruined them too. They did a major disservice to the way they transitioned all of the old characters they only had one chance to do this right and they screwed it up especially with Luke. Last and this one I cannot understand why they would screwed this up, they should have had all three movies already written and carefully planned so they all meshed together well in one fluid story. Star Wars is a total cash cow I just don’t understand how they would let different directors just do their own thing with each part of the trilogy they still have to make the third one but to me they already totaled the trilogy after TLJ and I don’t think it matters what they do at this point.
Solo is another perfect example they really fucked it up, I hope that they co...

The theme parks will benefit though. It's not all about the new movies necessarily. Multiple revenue streams. Iger would obviously know more then I do, but once the updates to World and Land are finished, there will be a boost in attendance for sure.
In 5 years $4B is going to look like a deal for them. It doesn't look good on paper now, but I think it will even if the new movie product isn't that great.
I notice you guys ignored my Mon Mothma reference. Guess you're not ready to point your SJW lens at Return of the Jedi...
I honestly didn't read your Mothma reference.
What point are you trying to make?
That Holdo wasn't the first woman in the Star Wars franchise to hold a high rank.
while Admiral Ackbar got killed by being vacuumed into space
Admiral Holdo, Hardened Battle Commander
Cause you see, apparently Star Wars fans are supposed to accept that this is a great, decorated, rebel, general.
Does this person self-identify as a man, woman, or something else? I can not really tell from picture.
She has big blue eyes, like a hobbit.
What more do you want?
Seriously, I fucking hate Kathleen Kennedy and Third Wave Feminist.
I'd need proof it was a woman, never know these days.

How badly is Solo under-performing?
Oh, it’s bad.
Keeping in mind that the trades reporting on Solo’s box office tend to suck up to the studios by making things sound better than they really are — and things still look bad. Over this four-day Memorial Day weekend, Solo is belly-flopping at right around $114 million. Solo’s three-day take (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) is $93 million.
Comparing apples-to-apples, here are the three-day openings…
Solo: $92 million
The Last Jedi: $220 million
Rogue One: $155 million
When you figure in for inflation, even the dreaded prequels (that opened on a lot fewer screens) will out-perform Solo.
The Phantom Menace opened to $114 million (2970 screens) in 1999, Attack of the Clones opened to $126 million (3161 screens) in 2002, and Revenge of the Sith opened to $153 million (3663 screens) in 2005.
Solo opened on a whopping 4400 screens.
For an even clearer perspective, on its opening Friday, Rogue One earned $71 million. Solo made about half that, $36.5 million.
Internationally, that magical place where most domestic box office bombs go to thrive, Solo is even doing worse. In 43 markets, over two whole days, Solo made a paltry $11.4 million.
So what is happening? Why such a collapse?
Two words: Kathleen and Kennedy.
Disney should re-write the prequels and give it to the guys who do Game of Thrones, or have Kevin Smith write the thing.
Considering the typical theater share is 50%, Solo has basically made Disney around $170 million to date, at a cost of $500 million.
I hear you. Getting into Disney Land or World is significantly more revenue for them compared to a movie though. I think the movies are average at best (new ones) but they're entertaining enough.
It would probably take close to 10 movie goers compared to 1 paid ticket to Disney World for the same net profit. Even if someone only saw The Empire Strikes back, essentially a property they own now, they'd still probably be intrigued to go to DL/DW and check the rides out and shit (once they're complete). You don't even need to see the new one's technically to get interested in Star Wars.
They have to show upset about poor box office results, but it's a long play for Disney even if it looks bad now. They've got the marketing, branding and brainwashing down to a science. SW will be a massive cash cow for them, you can't just base it on the new movie attendance/revenue numbers. You can dislike the movies (won't argue that) but it's too early to call this a loss for Disn...

I guess making Lando a pansexual wasn't the marketing genius move Kennedy thought it would be?
