With all the talk about the school shootings, let's take a look at what the 2nd Amendment actually says:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Couple things to note in there:

1. The specific mention of a militia being the reason for the need to bear arms.
2. The 2nd Amendment never mentions the word gun at all.

So, what exactly is the definition of "arms"?

In 1755 Dr. Johnson’s Dictionary of the English Language was first published. It defined “arms” as “weapons of offence, or armour of defence.”

Weapons of offence would seem to include pretty much anything and everything, from knives to nuclear weapons. The US has already seen fit to ban some weapons of offence so the 2nd Amendment clearly has not been interpreted strictly as meaning that the US cannot ban all "arms". Therefore, the 2nd Amendment does not guarantee citizens the right to own whatever weapons they choose.

So it then becomes a question of which weapons should be banned, which should be strictly regulated, and which should be lightly regulated or not at all. Like anything else, we should weigh an individual's right with society's right. When looked at in that manner, it becomes very difficult to justify why fully automatic or semi automatic rifles should be allowed. What purpose do they serve an individual? And why would that purpose outweigh the extreme damage those weapons have cased society??

Patrick thinks the Chamber of Commerce is the worst organization, and he may be correct, but the NRA is not far behind.

One could argue that American Indian genocide was government policy.

Argue? Is there any debate about it?

Mass shootings aren't more frequent,

The US has had 214 mass shootings so far in 2022 Here's the full list.

https://www.insider.com/number-of-mass-shootingsin-america-this-year-2022-5

Good thing these events aren't more frequent huh ?

Maybe we can reach 365 - one a day !

146 days into this year. That means 214/146 = 1.46 mass shootings per day. If the statistics are true, and I doubt it, we will reach over 365 easily.

However, I rather doubt the claims. Our media isn't this silent about mass shootings and the link above, despite your claims, doesn't list them all. It just makes the same claim you did.

Well regulated.

Well-regulated in reference to Militia means "Drilled".

From von Stueben's Manual of 1779, approved for distribution to militia units by John Jay, President of the Continental Congress

THE MANUAL EXERCISE

I. Poise- Firelock! Two motions.

1st With your left hand turn the firelock briskly, bringing the lock to the front, at the same instant seize it with the right hand just below the lock, keeping the piece perpendicular.

2d. With a quick motion bring up the firelock from the shoulder directly before the face, and seize it with the left hand just above the lock, so that the little finger may rest upon the feather spring, and the thumb lie on the stock; the left hand must be of an equal height with the eyes.

II. Cock- Firelock! Two motions

1st Turn the barrel opposite to your face, and place your thumb upon the cock, raising the elbow square at this motion.

2d. Cock the firelock by drawing down your elbow, immediately placing your thumb upon the breech-pin, and the fingers under the guard.

III. Take Aim! One motion

Step back about six inches with the right foot, bring the left toe to the front; at the same time drop the muzzle, and bring up the butt end of the firelock against your right shoulder; place the left hand forward on the swell of the stock, and the fore-finger of the right hand before the trigger; sinking the muzzle a little below a level, and with the right eye looking along the barrel.

from article

There have been slightly fewer mass shootings so far in 2022 than 2021

most shootings are gang on gang violence. that hasn’t changed.

New data point about Uvalde shooting: the perp was 18 so xe should not have been able to buy a semi-auto in TX. He was also making violent threats for months before shooting. Somehow press has not really picked up on this. I would not past our gubbermint supplying him with weapons at a politically convenient time.

Huh? 18 is the legal age to buy a long arm in the US. Even in CA.

The shooter was arrested four years ago for threatening to do exactly what he did, when he did it. Obviously he was not prosecuted and convicted because if he had been he couldn't have walked into wherever and bought guns. Therefore he didn't have a felony record despite apparently presenting sufficient evidence of a felony.

There's a record of this, of course, which the media and Texas Government will do their level best to bury -- of course they have thus far, and won't talk about it.

HA-HA
guns are bad, not persons shooting them mmmm'kay

there is nothing that says “this is not going to go well for you” like a guy with 24/7/365 armed security who just spent two years vilifying you, violating your bodily integrity, and depriving you of basic liberties telling you about how you do not need a gun.

"A .22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lung, and we can probably get it out, maybe, and save a life — a 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body. So the idea of these high-caliber weapons is, uh, there's simply no rational basis for it in terms of self-protection, hunting. Remember, the constitution was never absolute."

Of course. The FIB always identifies these people well before anything happens, and always fails to do anything about it.

This is because they are part of it. When has the FIB ever stopped a school shooting?

Name ONE time.

I check in and sure enough - some clowns just don't disappoint. Just to verify: @richwicks, what's your criteria for acknowledging that a shooting HAS been stopped (by whoever)? (trantrum without a logical fallacy is not a proper tantrum)

It looks like the same exact kid was arrested before, and may have been the one stopped a few years ago in the same town.

That's why there's a mugshot of him.

Breaking: TX Shooter may not have had a driver's license.

How did he purchase his guns, then? How did he get to Wendy's?

(Suspected answer: He used a Mexican Matriculata Consulata Card?)

It's the arrest and conviction of a person that was claiming to prepare to do a mass murder, and was arrested and convicted along with evidence they were actually going to do it complete with weaponry and ammunition that was not supplied by an intelligence informant, either directly or through money given to them.

I'm well fucking aware the FIB will fake this shit too.

Our FIB finds mentally unstable people, convinces them to engage in some terrorist act, gives them the money and support to do it, then arrests them before they do, complete with a fake bomb they supplied. They've been doing this for the last 2 decades. They recently did this with the Gretchen Witmer "kidnapping plot". This was BLATANTLY obvious. Hell, the capital police allowed protesters into the capital, they are the ones that opened the magnetic doors, the "People's House" wasn't broken into.

These are our fucking intelligence agencies. The shooter in Buffalo, Payton Gendron was talking to an "ex" FBI employee before the attack happened - or at least those are the rumors, perhaps they are false.

Show me an example where they stopped an ACTUAL crime before it happened? Do you think the reason something like 20 fully armed police officers in Uvalde sat by and did nothing was because NONE of them (who were in bullet proof jackets) were willing to go in and stop the shooter, or because they were ordered to stand down?

You're hopelessly naive in my opinion. In a democratic system it requires the population to distrust and be suspicious of the government, in fascism and communism, it requires complete trust, and you're either a fascist or a communist. Lots of people like you in this nation today, a dangerous number of you.

Remember, you trust Ukraine to be winning the war because you're still naive enough to trust US "news" media - even after the last 5 years. We'll see. My contention is this war will end with Russia getting what they demanded in the first place, and if they just got that in the first place, there would be a lot less dead men as a result. Ukraine is going to be destroyed. Well, a small price to pay for $60 billion dollars of money laundering and some to the MIC and a slightly weaker Russia, that's what the maniacs that run the United States want, and will have. It's just another money laundering operation, just like Afghanistan was - just like most of our stupid wars are.

I am sick and tired of talking with you. You're either an idiot, or even worse, a colluder. I live and work in the shithole called Silly Con Valley, I know PRECISELY what is done here, and what kind of intelligence FUCKERS have done to infiltrate our industry. To me, you're either a hapless idiot that still trusts the US government, or you're a criminal that works for them. Either way, I don't respect you, and I don't care about your statements, and I don't respect your stated opinions because either I can't trust "your" opinions are your opinions, or I think you're too stupid to form one. There could be a 3rd alternative, but since you push the Ukraine narrative of our propaganda outlets, I know I can't trust you to actually think. I'm not hearing from your mind either way, whether it's paid for or free, irrelevant.

The Egyptian Intel Guy being framed in the Early 90s.

He outsmarted the FIB by recording all his convos and phone calls, he was a much better intel guy than they were. Right down to his last few calls telling them to arrest the Jihadis, they were on the move, and the FIB agents yeah yeah yeahing him.

Emad Salem. He was an informer to the FIB in the WTC bombing. FIB made certain it happened and even tried to convict Salem.

FIB kills innocent people all the time.
