Seems like a purposeful setup here. Start with some shootings by middle easterner's, establish that it can be done inside the US. Then make the ties to foreign radical organizations more and more flimsy. Finally, introduce a shooter with no ties to foreign radicals at all, and now you can start the next phase in the "War on Terror". War on Americans...
