Use this thread to post the happenings of the Democratic National Convention: I'll start:

The schedulers are trying to bring out non-booable performers in order to silence the voice of the Bernie Sanders supporters

--A handicapped woman in a wheelchair, replete with a speech impediment
--Al Franken (senator, former comedian)
--Sarah SIlverman (comedian)
--Paul SImon singing "Bridge over troubled water"

The worst part is, it seems to be working. The Bernie-or-bust people need to step up their game. EVERYONE should be booed. The above scheduling is just manipulation, and should be seen as such.

If Hillary cared about children, she'd have campaigned for Bernie

42   justme   2016 Jul 26, 4:42pm

Why did the state of Vermont delegation PASS on the their voting?

Ah, so that Vermont could be the last state to vote, and have Bernie Sanders speak and make the motion to "suspend the rules", and declare Clinton the nominee by acclamation.

The political revolution lives on. Long live the political revolution.

C-span has a great page where all the speeches are available on video and organized according to timeline.

This nomination really highlights Bernie's street cred as a rogue outsider candidate. This is excellent news for the Bern.

He'll poll at least 70% in November - smashing Trump and Nurse Ratched as a write-in phenom!

Inauguration will be a wonderful day.

Neckbeards to the phone banks, stat!

Wow, Bill Clinton's ode to Hillary last night was really something. It appears that Hillary pretty much walks on water on a daily basis.

No mention of any specific policy goals by the time I gave up listening. For example, BIll could have brought up re-instating the Glass-Steagall banking law, a law which repeal in the 1990s was signed by Bill himself.

I'm feeling the Bern.

46   Dan8267   2016 Jul 27, 8:23am

The only good thing about president Hillary will be Bill Clinton back in the White House. I hope he parades bimbo after bimbo and sends out picts of him getting blow jobs from each of them in the Oval Office with the caption "Bringing dignity back to the White House, bitches!". He can tweet every day, "I just had sexual relations with that woman and there's jack diddly shit you conservative hypocrites can do about it.".

Bill Clinton should send cum-stained dresses to each Republican in the House and Senate for the next eight years. I mean really rub it in their faces.

47   justme   2016 Jul 27, 8:26am

Around the 39:00 mark, Clinton declared that the party had just nominated the REAL change-maker (Hillary), and the crowd erupted into chants of Bernie-Bernie-Bernie-Bernie. Nice.

"You could drop her into any trouble spot, and come back a month later. And someway, somehow she would have made he place better".

Heh.

Day one was about sharing the spotlight with Bernie and coming together. That extended through the roll call.
Day two was about two things, IMO. Law and order and who is Hillary. On law and order, it was about bringing police and black people together, so they had the mothers of the movement on as well as white policemen. On who is Hillary, they had many people who had worked with her or were helped by her give speeches. That was capped by the granddaddy of the who is Hillary speech. That was by Bill, who I thought did a good job of discussing her motivations and successes in career and personal lives.

If you want to know what Hillary's policies are going to be, I would suggest watching Hillary's speech. You wouldn't watch Melania's speech to figure out what Donald's policies were would you? In that comparison, we should be glad that Bill didn't shoot model eyes at the cameras and plagiarize Nancy and Laura.

Bill did give the viewers a choice. Do you want to believe the true version, or do you want to believe the republican cartoon version of Hillary. He could have discussed how Hillary stood by him during his Lewinski ordeal, but why? That would have been a train wreck. He could have talked about the Clinton foundation, which the Republicans have been talking about and defended that. But that is really his baby. I thought he made the right decision by sticking to her story and accomplishments and being liberal with the corny stories.

If the Bernie movement fires Bernie and gets organized in two years to elect 'true liberals' in the midterm elections, what will they call their version of the tea party?

51   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2016 Jul 27, 9:54am

Hi Pussy. I see that you have been missing me a lot lately, so I'll give you one response today. Just one though, OK?

The IRS has been investigating Trump for years, b/c of his shady business practices. The IRS is investigating the Clintons again at the request of a bunch of Republican congress people, who are going to use this investigation in their next election campaigns. There is no vast right-wing conspiracy against the Clintons. The Clintons are just a wedge issue for conservatives, and there is a cottage industry associated with working this issue. If it weren't the Clintons, it would be someone else.

Wow, guy who was put forward as Trump alternative, an Oligarch with the Charisma of a Zombie on Downers, tried to put down the Donald.

This is a control freak where you can't write 'prick' on his terminals.

Pro-Bernies go over the Great Wall of Hillary outside the Convention Center. Apparently the wall is down and the Bernies are in the Media Tent for the 2nd Day in a row.

Trump has more charisma. Bloomberg has more business acumen, intelligence, experience in office, and has traditional business ethics. I'm pretty sure it played well to college educated white independents.

Bloomberg is a tyrant, a literal authoritarian. I've said this long before Summer 2015.

He's a solid neoliberal, Mr. CCTV Man. Bans food from Homeless Shelters FFS.

http://patrick.net/Bloomberg+Refused+Second+Slice+of+Pizza+at+Local+Restaurant

Additionally, his total anti-gun stance is legendary, so if you're hoping he convinces some moderate Republicans to jump ship, good luck with that.

Only more legendary is his commitment to Wall St: Bloomberg: Banks didn't create Mortgage Crisis. He thinks the government helping modest peons instead of Elite Brainiacs like him did that.

No wonder Bloomberg endorsed Hillary

She'll sign TPP.

It's stupid petty shit like that which demonstrates why all Bernie supporters should refrain from voting Clinton. They have four choices, all symbolic, but casting a vote is symbolic anyway since your vote isn't going to amount to shit anyway. So it sends a message and nothing else, that's still better than nothing. The four choices they have are:
1. Write in Bernie. It would be wonderful if Hillary loses AND the write-ins for Bernie are more than enough to have had elected her if they were votes for her. That's the ultimate way to send a message.
2. Vote for Trump. You lose the clarity of the message, but it counts doubly against Clinton.
3. Stay home. This is the worst choice because you can still vote for Democrats for the House and Senate if you don't stay home.
4. Vote for a third party candidate. Really, why not just write-in Bernie instead?

It will be interesting to see what there Donald, tea party, and disaffected Bernie or bust people do. Will they join up in any way, past this election. It probably depends on the election results. I don't see Donald sticking with politics if he loses, but you never know.

One more thing about Bloomberg.

When it's Government largess to bailout banks, we have "Infinite Money".
http://patrick.net/USA+Has+%27Infinite+Amount+of+Money%27...+Bloomberg.

When it's schools, hospitals, college, infrastructure, we have to watch every penny.

Bloomberg is the epitome of the Oligarch Figure who is an overmighty subject. He is loathed by most Republicans AND by pretty much every Bernie Voter.

You guys don't get it, yet.

That's what the Nader guys effectively did in 2000: stickin' it to the man!

And it changed everything. Totally showed the powers that be who's boss. Burned that motherfucker down, so we could rebuild fresh.

Yessirree, Nader accomplished so much - changed everything, really.

When I think about the massive wave of positive change Nader brought about in 2000, it's hard to believe how much good it did.

A beautiful shared moment of true love, respect, and forgiveness. "I think that I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House.... And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002" (Clinton, 2008).

Hillary Clinton is the only person to rip off Goldman Sachs.

If her DNC robotic speech is anything to go by, she scammed the fuck out of Goldman Sachs. What was it, $250k?
