http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/02/10/texas-teen-tweets-herself-out-pizza-job/

A Texas teen lost her job at a Dallas area pizzeria before she even started when she trashed the gig in a tweet that her prospective boss spotted.

“Ew I start this f*** a** job tomorrow,” Twitter user @cellla_ tweeted on Friday regarding her new job at Jet’s Pizza in Mansfield, along with a string of emojis depicting seven thumbs down.

But the worker was served up a cold slice of reality when another Jet’s employee showed the missive to franchise owner Robert Waple. He responded to the young girl with a tweet of his own.

“No you don't start that FA job today! I just fired you! Good luck with your no money, no job life!” @Robertwaple tweeted on Saturday, using his account for the first time since signing up for the social media service in 2009.

The public firing didn’t seem to bother Cella, who tweeted out her joy over being fired on Twitter.

“I got fired over Twitter,” she said.

Waple tweeted out a second message to Cella which has since been deleted according to reports.

“Working register, taking phone orders, making subs/salads. Eating free pizza. How hard would that have been?” he said in the tweet.

Some questioned the validity of Waples' account, but Cella confirmed the message was legitimate in yet another tweet.

Waple's pizza shop is a franchise of Jet's Pizza, which has nearly 400 locations in 18 states.

"The location in question is an independently owned and operated franchise store. Jet’s America, Inc., as the franchisor, cannot dictate the employment practices or decisions of independently owned and operated franchise businesses," a spokeswoman for Jet's Pizza's corporate office said in a statement provided to FoxNews.com.

"Nevertheless, Jet’s regrets to see the manner in which this situation has been handled by the parties involved."

The teen has become something of an instant celebrity after news of the incident went viral. Since Friday, she has amassed nearly 4,000 followers.

So who should get "mediocre jobs" Dan? Were you a teenager when you got that first IBM job?

Actually yes, but my first day on the job was my 20th birthday. So I wasn't a teenager for a whole 9 hours when I started that job.

If it pays crap and doesn't help your career, it's a mediocre job. My first "starting" job was programming for IBM. That helped my career and was one of several jobs that allowed me to pay for college and graduate with little debt that I paid off within three months.

You're nobody until you're somebody that pissed half the world off, and endeared your self to the other half by a stuip infintile tweet, that either got you fired, forced out of public office or arrested.

She'll do fine, she's gotta a hell of a career ahead of her as an Obama Navigator.

Classy.

Should be fired for stupidity more than for dissing her employer. This is the same behavior that Jobs, Ellison and countless others in corporate and social circles engage in - we're just chimps competing for status.

What this scrap of genetic trash fails to understand is that it's "kiss up, kick down." Not that she ever will. On the day she dies, with grandchildren milling around in the hospital hallway, texting friends as they giggle and hope for the shrivelled old arthritic prune with the mustache to give it up so they can hit the pizza joints or go bowling, the world will be left with one less turd.

A former co-worker, legitimately disabled and dependent on pain killers, travels around and posts shots of herself doing active things which are just poses - she has to sit down most of the day and can't lift more than 5 pounds. Friends are trying to tell her to tone down her Facebook photos, since that's something the gatekeepers check to judge if you're faking it.

I changed my mind. I would hire her as I'm also beginning to feel sorry for her. She is just an immature silly girl who may have been trying to be cool with her friends. I would give her a second chance as the incident might have knocked some sense into her, and she might actually be a good worker. I have done more dumb things than her in my lifetime.

If any teens or young people is reading this I have a message for you: Social media is a public outlet of admission. Everything you say, do or post is all publically expressed and not only that but can be searched by your name and is recorded like a archive. You actually have to be more careful what you say on social media than in actual real life.

What the fuck are you talking about? I state that a job that pays crap and doesn't help your career is a mediocre job. Then Strategist asserts that it isn't, so I give a meaningful distinction between a mediocre job that one takes just to get by versus a good job that helps one's career. How the fuck is that arrogant and what the fuck does it have to do with liberalism? It's just good advice. If you weren't such a conservative bigot, you wouldn't even bring politics into a discussion that has nothing to do with politics. So go ahead and explain yourself. The IBM job was my first non-mediocre job. I've also worked in college in the labs and in tech support. I also shoveled snow during high school and junior high. None of those jobs were things I'd put on my resume because they were irrelevant to my career.

So don't give me any bullshit about me being lazy. I guarantee you that I've worked far harder and accomplished far more in life than you have.

As for how I've turned out:
- six figure salary
- debt free since 22
- no unemployed periods
- productive member of society
- enjoy family and friends

Of course, now that I've stood up for myself, lame ass trolls will call that arrogant. It's their way of masking their insecurities and failures.

Balancing checkbooks? Paying off debt?

Exactly. Conservatives don't even balance their checkbooks or pay off debt. Reagan and both Bushes devastated the middle class and turned surplus into massive debts.

Now the conservative rank-and-file are trying to persuade the young to take whatever shitty minimum-wage job instead of pursuing jobs that would help their careers. In IT I've seen people forced to retire at early because they couldn't get another job despite having skills. I've stayed gainfully employed throughout every recession and downturn precisely because I turn down bad jobs. Whenever I evaluate a job, I ask myself how will this job help me get my next job. If it doesn't, I refuse it. And that's why I have no gaps in my resume unlike the vast majority of software developers.

I'd strongly recommend to any younger adult in any field to follow this strategy. It's necessary for survival especially if your field is highly competitive.

Today a kid walks in with a history of menial jobs (and a degree of some kind), boss says "How come this kid never had a "real job" in the area he's trying to make a career of?"

I'm not. Nothing I've said even implies the slightest derision of someone who takes a job simply to make ends meet. Like always, you conservative bigots cannot attack the actual arguments I make, so you resort to making Straw Men.

The person who is attacking the young woman in this thread is the original poster, zzyzzx, who referred to her as a "Stuipd teen" (yes, misspelled like that). Feel free to attack zzyzzx for his comments.

Strategist says

How did you become debt free at 22? Have you never owned a home with a mortgage?

I worked my way through college taking jobs that would benefit my career. As a result, I graduated with little college and career debt. I fully funded IRAs since I was 20 and fully funded 401Ks every year I had one. In college I bought a reliable, reasonable car rather than one that would get me laid. I fully paid off that car within six months of graduating college. I kept that car even though I could afford a much cooler one because I was financially responsible and had discipline.

My current car is only my second car. Yes, it's cool and attracts women like crazy, but I paid cash for it having saved up. It's currently 10 years old and drives like new because I maintain it well. It will be a classic as they aren't making the kind of roof this convertible has, and I expect to keep it for decades if not the rest of my life even though I could pay cash for another car. Again, valuing long-term prosperity over short-term desires makes a huge difference.

I've never bought a house because of the bubble, but my stock investments have done tremendously well, far better than any house, and all without timing because I follow the Vanguard approach of investing steadily and holding onto the S&P 500 index fund while minimizing costs. It's not sexy and I won't become a billionaire from stocks, but I will outperform over half of the investments (measured by money) by mathematical definition as the S&P 500 index pretty much represents the U.S. stock market as a whole.

When I find a good buy, I will buy a house with cash. I've saved up for many years. It is doubtful that I will have a mortgage and I don't need to purchase anything excessive.

What I've done in my life isn't rocket science. It's something that every young adult can and should do. Granted, a large part of my success is that I've been fortunate to have awesome genetic code that allowed me to be more intelligent than most people and thus I had a huge advantage in the tech industry, but you don't have to be intelligent to succeed in America. Every person has some talent. You just have to find out what talents you have, which ones can translate into a useful service to society, and which ones you enjoy using. Once you find a match, you just have to work hard at developing your talent and practice fiscal discipline living within your means. You won't become a billionaire by doing this, but you will probably be financially secure.

That's not to say that luck plays no role. Opportunities come unpredictably. Careers can be be launched by being at the right place at the right time. But you maximize the probability that you will be ready for an opportunity by taking the advice I've offered in this thread.

A job at McDonald's is not going to prepare you for a career. There is no shame in taking a job simply to pay the bills, but often it is worth giving up a job to pursue even an unpaid internship that will let you get a better job and one in your career choice. It is a tragedy that so many college graduates are working in fast food instead of in their industry. Since every step in a career is built on the previous step, the setback of spending years in mediocre jobs will end up costing those graduates hundreds of thousands if not over a million dollars in today's money by the time they retire because they will not rise to the same level as they could have if their careers took off earlier.

Time, as I've stated, is your most precious and limited commodity. Trade it sparingly for once you do you cannot trade back.

Call it Crazy says

Dan is a Gen Xer

Dan lives in an apartment and pays rent

He doesn't own a house so he's not building any equity by paying rent

He drives a 10 year old car

He doesn't have a wife or girlfriend

He doesn't have any kids

He has investments and cash

Dan lives in a house and the money he's made in the S&P 500 Index fund, Vanguard, is greater than what he spends on rent and would have gotten as a return on a house. Stocks out-perform housing always in the long-term.

Dan owns stocks and reinvests the income. So he is building equity, just in a profit generating asset as opposed to a depreciating asset.

Actually, my car is a 2007 Volvo C70, so I was slightly off with the age as it's only 8 years old. I rounded since I don't obsess over my car like you do and the exact age didn't seem important. However, driving an old car -- am I the only one who doesn't think 10 years is old for a car -- is hardly a negative factor. It shows prudence in buying and I'll be happy with driving the same car my entire life since it's a great car. Still, the only thing you got close to right are the two things I've stated on this site: my car and my generation. That's a pretty shitty batting average.

I don't have a wife and I don't want one. Measuring success by whether or not a person is married is just plain stupid, especially in this day of horrible divorces. I do, however, have a very active love life, but I find no reason to share that with you. As for kids, I have chosen to not pursue them. I am very content with my nieces and any other children my siblings will have. If my genes aren't passed on to the next generation, that's my species's lost, not mine. Still, every human being shares over 99.9% of their genetic code with every other human being, so I'm not strongly compelled to put less than 0.1% difference dissolved to 1 to 4 (number of children) parts per 7 billion (population of Earth).

Dan has lots of investments and cash. Being financially secure is one aspect of success. I'd hardly consider it the only one, but it is important.

Now, let's contrast with you, a petty, despicable excuse for a human being who seeks validation by trolling websites. That's pretty sad.

As usual, the conservative trolls are idiots. I have no unemployed periods despite doing contracting for pretty much my whole career because I look for the next job while doing the current one. I have opportunities lined up before I complete a project. And yes, I've written myself out of many jobs by doing such a damn good job that I was no longer needed. It's called having work ethics. A software contractor goes into a project, completes it ahead of schedule and without flaws, and then is no longer needed. However, he gets great references and can go on to the next project.
