Except Vanna did not make a career out of claiming to be a disadvantaged minority.

Sarah Palin and George Bush are of Idiot-American extraction, and received the support of millions of inferiority-complex-crippled wingnuts precisely because they didn't "talk fancy", "put on airs", or "act better than us."

Both traded on their heritage to gain the support of insecure and resentful lazy whites who, when presented with each fresh revelation of stupidity, responded "This just makes me like him/her more and more."

She is a Latina, perhaps even a wise Latina. But like Sotomayor, she is no minority. Most folks living in Puerto Rico are in fact white.

"White was born Vanna Marie Rosich in Conway, South Carolina,[2] the daughter of Joan Marie and Miguel Angel Rosich. Her father was Puerto Rican. He abandoned the family and White took the name of her stepfather, Herbert Stackley White Jr., a former real estate agent in what is now North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.[3]"

This just in from WiseLatina.com:

Vanna White, 54

You know her as the legendary hostess of Wheel of Fortune, but White – whose very last name hints that she’s Caucasian— is actually part-Latina! You see, “White” is not Vanna’s real apellido—it’s the name she took from her stepfather Herbert Stackley White Jr., a former real estate agent in North Myrtle Beach. Not much is known about Vanna’s real father whose name is Miguel Angel Rosich, except that he was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and abandoned the family when she was a child. Fun fact: Rumor has it that one of White's ancestors, whose last name was Barnes, was one of the first mayors of the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico.

So in summary, you can be white and benefit from affirmative action, but you have to claim you are a minority, which not just any white person can do. No, you have to be a white person with a Spanish surname, or be a Hispanic which would include Europeans from Spain, but not from Portugal (Portuganic?), or be a make believe Hispanic, which is hard to define exactly as the category itself is make believe.

Kind of funny, but folks who don't play the game suffer in their careers as well as in having equal opportunity to education. Quite unfortunately, we have a Supreme Court justice who made quite a career out of such lies, and as it is politically correct to go along with the lies, the Democrats especially trumpet this white woman as a minority.

2011 isn't "just in."

So, her father was born in PR? She claims that her nationality is as listed above, and being born there doesn't make him Latino. But, for the sake of your argument, we'll go with her having Puerto Rican heritage.

Vanna White has made a career out of not speaking, and of going off of her appearance alone. I'm unsure of your point...

... oh yea, you have none.

Her father is a Latino because he was born in Puerto Rico. What exactly do you think it takes to be a Latino?

My point is, as stated, that like Vanna White, Sonia Sotomayor is Puerto Rican and white. And unlike Vanna White, Sonia Sotomayor made a career out of championing a fake minority status when she is no more a minority than Anthony Scalia.

Let's examine Blurtman's logic:

The majority of the residents of Puerto Rico are white. Therefore, EVERYONE who is from Puerto Rico is white.

Hmmm...I think I'm spotting an itsy bitsy flaw there.

I have posted several times the demographics of Puerto Rico. One more time.

"white 75.8%, black/African American 12.4%, other 8.5% (includes American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, other Pacific Islander, and others), mixed 3.3%
note: 99% of the population is Latino (2010 est.)"

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/rq.html

So Sotomayor didn't claim to be black. She might have if she thought she could get away with it. And she didn't claim to be American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, other Pacific Islander. So that leaves only white or mixed. Throwing out the other two categories means that there is now a 96% chance she is white and a 4% chance she is mixed.

I'd take that bet anytime. There is a 96% chance Sotomayor is white.

I don't understand why you keep posting the same shit over and over. How is a "Puerto Rico Factsheet" evidence of what Sotomayor has or has not claimed?

Vanna White could be our first Puerto Rican president if she ran on a Palin-White ticket and campaigned with Palin by showing up at whistle stops to lick each other's gonads, exactly as the Founding Fathers intended, and then assassinated Palin once in the White House.

I could vote for that. Couldn't be worse then the alternatives. Plus I'd really like to see Vanna White's gonads. Sara Palin not so much.

Sotomayor grew up in housing projects in the Bronx with other Puerto Ricans and Blacks. She is very much a minority. Vanna White was raised white in a privileged area. Very different.

That would make many Jewish Americans, Italian Americans and other poor people who have lived in projects people of color. Which is why affirmative action based upon race or ethnicity is wrong. Poor white people get screwed even though disadvantaged. Don't racially profile the administration of aid.
