His view, however, is that the problems plaguing the country won't result in armageddon. There is the possibility of a precipitous decline, although a long and drawn out malaise is much more likely, said the Charlottesville, Va.-based president of Marotta Wealth Management.

"Wall Street adviser"

first against the wall, surely.

not that a street revolution would change anything.

idiocy in, idiocy out

a small part of the reason I want to move up to Bham is it's an easy skedaddle into BC.

There was a house I posted that basically had a clear shot into Canada, ~2 miles away.

An economic adviser recommending personal protection is like the cook recommending you eat someplace else.

AF is correct. In the event of a society-wide collapse of order, the only currency worth anything would be food (yams), fuel, and munitions.
However I don't foresee that happening for purely economic reasons. We'd need a good disaster first, something truly devastating like a zombie plague, polar shift, or the re-release of "Ishtar."

However, the psychopaths who work on Wall Street would indeed be the first to hoist the Jolly Roger. Association with their ilk is probably the cause of this guy's skewed perspective.

Wall Street had no problem so far robbing a lot of armed people blind.

The more they feel secured because of their guns, the easiest target they become.

Quigley says

However I don't foresee that happening for purely economic reasons.

Economic weakness leads to sedition, separatism, civil war, military weakness and eventually, barbarians invasions.
