The Vikings are proven to have discovered North America*.
They lived in North America for several centuries, longer than the USA has existed. In fact, they had a settlement so large it had it's own bishop.
Greenland is 100% part of the North American Continent. Even if you discount Greenland, which would be geologically incorrect, they had a settlement in Newfoundland which is universally accepted as Norse. Additional Viking artifacts have been found on Baffin Island as well.
Columbus went to Iceland just before leaving for the New World, where he may have encountered the Greenlander's Saga. The Greenland settlement was only abandoned about a century before Columbus set sail westward.
It's also likely that the Polynesians visited South America. If they could get to Easter Island from the far western Pacific, South America would be a breeze.
However, no Indian group has been discovered with Semitic Genes, nor have Iron Swords or Horse Bones been found prior to the 1500s any where in North or South America. Sorry, Angel Moroni.
