Two studies just came out that begged for correlation: one indicating that Americans have shorter life spans than others in first-world countries, and another indicating that depression leads to shorter lives. The Resident (aka Lori Harfenist) makes the correlation.

Being diagnosed with depression puts people at risk of being prescribed SSRIs. Toxic SSRIs can definitely lead to shorter lives, especially since they double the risk of suicidality. The report notes that 10% of Americans are on anti-depressants; with Obamacare, that will increase.
