More Americans than ever renounced their US citizenship in late 2012, but that number means nothing compared to the latest figures. There's been a six-fold increase in renouncing citizenship, and the number of Americans who made that step in the second quarter of this year comes to around 1,130, according to the IRS. Is there a max exodus of Americans wanting to avoid paying taxes? RT's Meghan Lopez asks correspondent Erin Ade to explain the number.

It is not taxes. America is getting scary. With the NSA, they probe every email and phone call. With FATCA, they want a record of all your foreign accounts and will punish foreign banks if they fail to provide info. A slow erosion of rights is taking place -we already throw more people in jail than anyhwere else on earth. Both parties are united on one issue-taking away rights from Americans. All it takes is one wingnut President and crappy depression, before conditions for dictatorship blooms.

Right now it is the 1% that are the villains-that can change very easily to the 30%.

That's ok, for every one renouncer we get 1000's more from somewhere else to replace them.

That depends on who is renouncing and who is pouring in to replace them.
