A new headline that many media outlets picked up recently was about the most expensive house for sale in America, clocking in at $190 million. This is just another example of a very long list of a time-honored tradition in the US: our media parading the "most expensive" items in front of the masses. And instead of being outraged by the gross misuse of resources or inequality, Americans love to ogle this "wealth porn." The Resident (aka Lori Harfenist) discusses why.

Kind like the Russian who overpaid $100M for a Santa Clara home to find
the tax accessor found it to be only worth half..

Was that American or Russian gross misuse of resources or inequality.
How about the Japanese who went out buying up and overpaying for US
property in late 90s .. equally lost their shirt.
