Perhaps all taxes should be optional. However, if you chose not to pay them under current tax law, then you have no access to anything that taxes pay for.
No use of Hospitals receiving any federal funding. That takes care of most of them. As far as I know, all US physician residencies are paid federal grants. So no access to doctors either.
No hiring of employees that received education in state or federal funded institutions. Primary school, high school, uni, if an employee attended any of that, they cannot work for you unless you pay taxes.
No use of the public infrastructure either. No roads. No telecommunications regulated by the FCC. No TV. No use of national or state parks.
You can leave the country, I suppose. Good luck getting anywhere without using the roads though. Or getting on a plane without using a federal or state funded airport. Or getting on a boat that is not in a government funded port. Maybe you are a good swimmer. If not, I hear Canada is nice. They might have taxes too though...Mexico then. Damn - Mexico has taxes too? Better figure out a way to swim to the Bahamas then.
Also, good luck getting your money out of the FDIC insured, bailed out bank. Or the money you have in stocks insured by the SIPC. Or the federal reserve notes you have in your mattress. Try to redeem any of those without the government requiring them to do so. They might just tell you to pound sand...
I guess your wealth could be in gold, but good luck carrying that across all the private property (since you cannot use state owned property) to the border without someone deciding that they might want to take that gold from you as you cross their property. Gold is sort of heavy too, by the way. And don't think about calling the cops when they are robbing you, because they won't come to your rescue. Maybe you have a gun and can defend yourself...I hope for your sake someone else doesn't come along with a bigger gun..
I hope you are not hungry, because that food in the grocery store didn't just magically appear; it got there on those roads or rail tracks that you cannot use. Since you cannot use the roads, you cannot use anything that got to you by way of the roads. Maybe you live on a farm and grow your own food...

I guess we could develop an ala carte menu for those who opt out of taxes. You want to hire someone with a public education? Sure, just share in the cost of it. You want to get water from the public infrastructure? Sure, share in the cost of that too. Want to use the roads? Sure - just a pay the fee to use them. Need to go to the doctor? Sure, just share the cost of his public education and publicly funded residency.
Wait - sharing the cost of all of the services the government provides - that sounds like paying taxes!

wanna be Millionaires... pretty much most of Hollywood packed their bags starting back in 2000-2003 or so and started to move to Nevada. That is why so much (and too much) construction was put up in LV and Arizona. Lots of NorCal SV tech millionaires moved to Reno/Tahoe. Yes.. they do visit CA at times... but like so many natives.. makes no difference... many are happy today away from the rat race.
Most of the nice areas-ala- San Diego, SF, LA, and so on are mostly people from the Northeast and Midwest anyway. So its not like they're doing anything different anyway. They're simply moving... again.

Maybe Tiger's move to Florida was more about there being no state income tax in FLorida than it was about getting away from California's high taxes.
Florida's tax rates are attractive compared to any state's.

FL has other flaws-like lifetime alimony. Hulk Hogan had to pay 70% of his fortune to Linda Hogan and she is shacked up with a 20yr old kid in his -now her house.
While prenup may work, who knows with judges tossing many aside. Tiger ended up paying 100 million dollars to his ex for a few years of marraige-that is just insane. Tom Cruise's prenup with katie Holmes, but the gold digger got him through child support. He is reputed to have agreed to pay 33k a month plus all the child's expenses. I mean if he is paying all the child's expenses, why pay 33k a month to her-she is an actress?? But at least he escaped from alimony.

ha ha! No way. I grew up the South and whenever we went to FL, we could barely wait to get back. Mentioning the weather is a gross understatement: Its absolutely miserable. The vast majority of the state is utterly flat and boring.
Sorry, I'll take Cali any day of the week over FL. But to each their own...

Used to drive through Central Florida all the time on the way to dive sites.
One time I stumbled out from back of the van, to get some ice cream at local DQ-like establishment and asked a local girl "where am I?"

Florida, it may be a year-round sauna but at least the people are rude.
We used to have fun at Daytona Beach. There's some interesting areas too. But the vast majority of the state is a hole. I remember we would spend 12 hours in the car driving down ( gas was 89 cents a gallon then) For approximately 90% of the drive there was NOTHING. As in it was flat, and there were billboards advertising firecrackers and oranges 100 miles from the store. You'd literally see signs that said:
" ONLY 45 miles away from Billybob's firecracker, souvenir, and walnut log store!!"
I remember when we finally did get to the beach that being outside from 10:00AM to around 4:00PM was miserable. 95 degrees and 95% humidity.
Lastly, most Southerners do not view FL as the South: Practically every other person from the Northeast moved down there.

I remember when I lived in the Northeast for a few years the first time it snowed and the boss sent me out to shovel the walk ( I had never done it before) I took the long handled shovel, held onto it facing my stomach, and got a good running start. Tiger Woods said today that the reason he left California in the mid-Nineties was because the state's taxes were too high.
The golfer spoke at a press conference on Tuesday about his decision to move to Florida in 1996.
Speaking at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California, Woods said: 'I moved out of here back in ’96 for that reason.'
Woods, who is worth an estimated $600million, was referring to comments made by fellow golfer Phil Mickelson on Sunday that he will make 'drastic changes' because of federal and California state tax increases.
Referring to his rival, 37-year-old Woods added: 'I enjoy Florida, but also I understand what he was, I think, trying to say.'
Mickelson, who is worth an estimated $73million, released a statement on Monday saying that he regretted making remarks about his taxes which were a 'personal matter'.
'And I'm going to have to make some drastic changes. I'm not going to jump the gun and do it right away, but I will be making some drastic changes.'
The 42-year-old golfer said he would talk in more detail about his plans - possibly moving away from California or even retiring from golf - before his hometown Farmers Insurance Open, the San Diego-area event that starts on Thursday at Torrey Pines.
In November, California voters approved Proposition 30, the first statewide tax increase since 2004. Mickelson lives in Rancho Santa Fe.
'If you add up all the federal and you look at the disability and the unemployment and the Social Security and the state, my tax rate's 62, 63 per cent,' Mickelson said. 'So I've got to make some decisions on what I'm going to do.'
