then Don't Buy Another House Ever.

Stop playing the Realtor's/Mortgage Broker's/Banker's serial debt game.

Get out of debt forever, its the best defense for the times ahead.

No no no, this is ALL WRONG. What about Realtors™ who need their commissions? What about mortgage brokers who need their fees?? What about bankers who need to suck your blood via usury??? Sure the REIC is giant parasite that has brought the US economy to its knees BUT IT’S ALL WE HAVE LEFT. Use your head man!!!!

You people are unbelievable!!! “love the feel of death between her palms”? “Ammo on fruit trees”?? Look outside SUNNY SUNNY SUNSHINE. Happy people walking around, look there is a Realtor™ walking toward you, wanting the HELP YOU buy a house. It will be YOUR HOUSE you can paint it any color, like Pretty Pink. Or in your cases here DOOMER GREY. LOL. Seriously people.

You guys are nuts! What's wrong with buying a HOUSE? Wait,it is wrong buying a HOUSE when equity goes red the moment you sign the slavery documents. I suggest $ should be abolished. Potatoes and gun powder should be the only items allowed in any transactions - modern world barter economy. LOL.

Didn't that already happen in late '08?

Another thing that could be part of a good defense:

They're just preparing for PAGE to come online.

China didn't allow its citizens to own Gold Bullion up until 2004. But now, they're encouraging their people to own gold. They've been trying to get their own gold exchange up and running. If we manage to shut it down, they'll just keep trying.

One very good reason not to refi is that it often quietly transforms your loan from "non-recourse" where they can't take your other assets to pay it off, to "recourse" which makes ALL your assets into fair game if you default, instead of just the house.

Everyone who considers a loan should always ask about this distinction, but lenders obfuscate it to such an extent that even their own employees don't always know. Years ago I was interested in buying and exploring the possibility of borrowing (shudder) and I asked my bank about their mortgage options, the rep had never heard of the distinction between recourse and non-recourse. Even when I explained it to her, she had apparently never heard the question before, had no idea who would even know how to answer. Also, in supposedly "non-recourse states" like California, the lender may have the option to choose either (a) quick non-judicial non-recourse foreclosure or (b) judicial litigation that takes longer but would be full recourse, and there can be fee shifting which could conceivably make the borrower liable for the creditors' additional expenses. So, anyone considering borrowing should make sure to understand this distinction and at least request non-recourse, and compare rates knowing that a non-recourse loan can be much safer for the borrower.

Chickens beat all for personal farming. You get eggs and meat and they basically take care of themselves and don't run away. You don't even have to feed them if you have enough land. They just eat whatever plants and bugs are around.

The only real downside is that if you don't put them away at night, the raccoons will eat them.

They eat scorpions too - great for Phoenix!

Paying off a mortgage with todays interest rates is almost foolish. Banks are counting on the fact that you'll move in 7 years. If your plan is to never move, then paying off essentially 0 interest money is stupid. At some point in the next 30 years, interest rates are going to go up.

As far as chickens producing meat. I just saw an interesting article asking this exact question. If a cooked chicken is $7, how much can you save by rearing your own. From people who had done it, they said unless you killed around 10 at a time, it just took far too much time. There were a few people who had done 10 at a time with a family and they said it was a lot of work still and took most of the day to get them all prepared.

They even went into the different types of chickens. They mentioned that fast growing ones must be put in a cage, you can let them roam because they've got so many hereditary health issues. If you aren't really careful, they'll die on you. Heart attacks, etc.

Roosters were mentioned, that they just go wild for hours at a time and all through the day. If you don't have a rooster, you'll often attract wild ones!

Eggs, and bug eating yes, but not meat.

I know everything about chickens because I saw it on the interwebs.

We've had chickens for a couple of years now. I did learn a lot about them. Never killed one since they're really pets, but we do get a decent number of eggs. Another problem is that when they're free-roaming, you have to hunt around for the eggs. They try to hide them, and if you take them, they lay somewhere else.
