Why does America lead the world in school shootings?

By Frank Ochberg - Special to CNN

School shootings are far more frequent in America than in other countries, although terrible massacres have occurred in Russia, Israel, and several European nations. In the high-crime neighborhoods of inner cities, school turf is relatively safe. We have learned to harden the target and patrol with vigilance.

Well we have to do something about Mexico, think their schools are safe?

I bet Frank isn't sending his kid to Escuela de Lourdes in Juarez.
How about lil Pedro in Tiajuana walking ten blocks through the biggest hell hole on earth to get to third grade, think he has a good go at it, if he makes it to class. I wonder how he gets on with the batos at school?

They are muscling in on our turf.

I hear a bitch will cut ya in a Mozambique school over a Cassava.

This is speculation, but I suspect the problem is with American culture.

As I mentioned in another thread, there is a law requiring every man to own a gun and be trained in its use, and is given a bolt rifle free from registration or obligation.

But the Swiss also have a much better gun culture than America. They don't glorify violence. Instead, they take liberty seriously.
http://www.theblessingsofliberty.com/articles/article11.html

Whatever the effect of Swiss guns abroad, they are not even a trivial crime problem domestically. Despite all the guns, the murder rate is a small fraction of the American rate, and is less than the rate in Canada or England, which strictly control guns, or in Japan, which virtually prohibits them. The gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept.

Compared that to the U.S. where we glorify violence. We give X ratings to movies in which two boys kiss and discuss homosexuality -- no actual sex -- but any amount of violence is limited to an R rating. That says Americans think images of sex are more damaging to young minds than images of violence.

Even the evening news is mainly about violence. There are hundreds of stories that local news could report on, but unless it involves a murder, rape, robbery, or car chase, they don't.

I think kids in school shootings are simply a reflection of the pro-violence culture they grew up in, a culture created by the massive media bombardment of violence.

Nice to see that the US is still number one in something.

Dan is absolutely spot-on here on the violence culture dominating the US.

There's also correlation with respect to income inequality.

That's because poorer people don't have any other way to entertain them selves than to watch the Mind rotting liberal nonsense the Liberals bombard them with on television 24/7. And god forbid, someone tells a black entertainer they can't market their Criminal glorification music to kids, less they be racist.
We would rather have a nation of violent stressed out soulless, skilless violence ingrained kids, killing people on a whim. Than to tolerate some religious nut job, telling them they shouldn't watch that stuff. Besides, chart makers needs data points to validate their cause.

Seriously what are you talking about? You do know that the President of United States said God asked him to invade Iraq, right?

If you want to check the validity of the source, here's the source of the chart.
