Well look who woke up from the Liberal dream.

For Canada, the cost of either meeting its commitments under the Kyoto Protocol, or failing to do so, was too much to bear.

On Monday, the country became the first signatory of the landmark climate treaty to back out of the deal, citing the huge potential cost of legally binding commitments.

Confirming the move, environment minister Peter Kent said to meet its obligations under the accord Canada would have to take every single vehicle off its roads.

"Every car, truck, ATV, tractor, ambulance, police car," he elaborated in a media briefing, before giving another equally unpalatable option of closing down the country's entire farming and agricultural sector and cutting heat to every home, building and factory.

If the country failed to do so, Kent said taxpayers would have to give $14 billion to other countries "with no impact on emissions or the environment."

Now pay attention to the last two paragraphs.

Nothing viable to replace the energy sources we currently have, yet, they would have to give $14 billion to other countries, and it would do dickall to impact emissions on the environment.

Why not just have a pact where the leading nations, all spend $14 billion on actually trying to produce alternative energy. Ooh Ooh I know this one...

Because it might actually solve something, and the Al Gores wouldn't have anything to merit their relevance any more. And the do nothing crony companies at the end of the Green money trail, that don't actually develop solutions, would cease to get their windfall, of misguided and misused funds.

Oh well! There's always baby seals to keep them busy.

I'm just quoting the facts, I don't know what you're going on about.

The GOP says

IF only we could harness the huge amount of energy that goes in to this kind of convoluted thinking. You know it's a lot of work that Tot and his ilk put in to seeing everything through that lens.

You two sound like a couple of nice kids, here let me help you out.
The Kyoto agreement was pure Bullshit, a scam of the highest order. It's not every day that someone CAN'T get something over on the Canadians.
If the Canadians are calling Bullshit on it, then it's a fait accompli, moot and taken as far as it can go with out being Ad nauseam.
