Hey, good, I automatically found two ads for this property and displayed them correctly. And they both ask the same price: $849,000
And both the Redfin and Movoto ads have the same silly text kimtitu talks about:
Wonderful Village home! Bright and cheerful "Airplane Bungalow" style craftsman home, on a sumptuously landscaped 15,000 sq. ft. corner lot. Perfectly suited for entertaining with a large inviting front porch, an open formal living room with a cozy fireplace, and french doors leading to a private patio. The enclosed southern Veranda offers ample windows and light. All room are spacious, and there is abundant storage space. The oversize backyard features a sparkling, solar heated pool and spa. You will love it!
Drive by tonight and see a sign post says reduced price. Pick up the flying. IT is reduced to $824900 if remember correctly. It is pitch dark inside. No one is living in this house now. I guess the owner is hoping to fetch a buyer from one of the college. I know many colleges try to buy up properties along College Avenue. The house is Ok but the price is hard to be justified.
Hmmm,
wonder how much per month the property tax will set back the new homeowner or landlord on this one.
Oh yeah, I forgot, e-man says that income tax will "cover" property tax, and oh well, even if that's not true, ptiemann says that property tax is an expense that can be ignored.
Sybrib, you gotta put these property tax payment in proper context. Yes, it will cost 500-600 net of income tax, but that is significantly less than 2500-3000 (withholding) check we send to the fed and another 1,000 or so to the state. Given a choice I rather pay my tax that is more directed locally (police, fire, school) to where I live not the fed or even the state where any direct benefit cannot be felt.
Buying a home in CA directs income tax toward property tax from a taxation perspective. In something this pricey, yearly income tax savings probably pays for 1.5 years of property tax so overall (fed, state, local) effective tax rate is lowered as well.
Ace,
you are not so disingenuous about that cost burden than others.
Happen to drive by this house. Drove by before and saw it was under construction. Though is a corner lot, the asking price is way too high compared to the neighboring property. Quite entertained with the agent's description of the property. They must work hard on it.
