Robert Kennedy, Jr is warning that climate change will deliver “major disruptions” to both humanity and civilization and outlines what he feels are the necessary solutions.

Kennedy, Jr was featured on Yahoo Finance’s Influencers series with Andy Serwer on January 16. The president of the Waterkeeper Alliance, RFK, Jr describes himself on Twitter as a "resolute defender of the environment."

When asked about the wildfires that have been ravaging Australia, Kennedy, Jr said that they are a “predictable byproduct” of climate change and spoke of his own experience having to evacuate his California home due to fires.

He said: “All of the modeling for climate change" points to future “storms on steroids, droughts, famine, the disappearance of the ice caps, the disappearance of the glaciers on every continent, and that there's going to be major disruptions, not just to humanity, but ultimately, to civilization.”

Kennedy, Jr attributes the drastic changes to “our longtime deadly addiction to coal and oil.”

Later in the interview, Kennedy, Jr says he has a market-based approach on how to best deal with climate change.

Not true. The atmospheric pressure at ground level on Mars is only 0.095 psi vs. 14.7 psi for sea level pressure on Earth. For comparison, atmospheric pressure at the top of Mount Everest is 4.89 psi - this is enough to make the peak of Everest more than 100 degrees colder than temperatures at sea level for the equivalent latitude. Without almost 100% CO2, Mars would be much, much colder. For example, the temperature on the surface on the moon in the shade is -297 degrees Fahrenheit.

Everest is 5.5 miles above sea level and is damn cold - at 160,000 feet there is virtually no atmosphere and temperatures are close to -150 F. You'll need something better than grade school science to explain this; namely the gas law PV=nRT which used to be taught in high school. In the second point, this argument is a red herring. Yes, because we are comparing apples with apples. Otherwise you are ignoring the Ideal Gas Law. We compare the temperature of Venus at the one atmosphere level - sea level for Earth - and Venus has the same temperature as Earth. Changing the atmospheric pressure will change the temperature per the ideal gas law: PV/T = Constant.
