I had a chance to go to Belgium over the summer for about a week.
I was stunned by the high quality of living in the medium and small cities. Brussels not so much.
And its safe to say that Belgium smoke more than US citizens.
A reasonable (but high taxed) system, education, strong infrastructure and a great neighborlyness, good work ethic, and capitol investment may be helping.
And the Belgian people are very considerate, remarkably generous.
what is more important for increasing life expectancy? Where you live or the choices that you make?
In an apples to apples comparison, the US does pretty well.
