U.S. Steel CEO Mario Longhi admitted that manufacturing challenges exist exclusively in the United States thanks to oppressive regulation set forth by President Obama.

Longhi is willing to bring as many as 10,000 jobs back to the United States because of the prosperity predicted with the advent of the incoming Trump administration. Jobs were lost to lay offs and downsizing during the Obama administration, and many employees found work overseas.

Europe and other countries have not established the same set of confining rules for manufacturing companies that American workers and business owners face.

There’s been little confidence among companies in the United States about their ability to compete in a global economy because of burdensome air pollution and water standards that are downright absurd. Longhi mentions the example of having to treat the water his company uses so that it is more pure than what’s found in nature.

Weve all watched while Continental and US AIR have been consumed during the "time of scarcity" engineered by NAFTA/Clinton/Obama.

This is trickle up economics, where viable firms that serve all the US, had the economic rug harmed by NAFTA in more than one way: 1) Individuals hurt by CRA and NAFTA are traveling less, 2) More Buracrasy is happening due to terrorism and the costs of insurance, indemnity, etc.

Now with the Democrats "trickle up" economics, not one person who made these rules never worked making a resistor, let alone work in an aircraft factor. When a bunch of Lawyers and Politicians with no experience in working start making decision for the rest of its citizens, its called __________?

Trickle Up economics is really Trickle Away economics.

Article hides the fact that this wasn’t US Steel that was laying off.
Typical for lying Democrats.

Because the point of the article was that Trump lied about protecting the steel industry.

U.S. Steel expansions touted by President Trump not happening

It's not gonna happen, because it cannot happen. Cutting taxes is good, but that's not always enough to bring back steel, autos, solar, manufacturing, and what not.
We cannot compete in manufacturing blue collar industries like steel and autos, because other countries have lower wages, lower benefits, less union problems, better workers, and more efficiency. Lowering taxes aint gonna cut it.
Just look at Harley Davidson. Even with tax cuts they find it more economical to move some manufacturing overseas, because they save $90 million per year.
Dear Trump,
As much as I love your policies, some of them are fucking stupid. DO NOT TELL COMPANIES WHAT'S GOOD FOR THEM. They are in a much better position to figure that out for themselves. You have no idea about the intricate details of every company. Stop the silly micro management, and focus on the macros. You are beginning to do more harm to US corporations, than good.
Thank You for the tax cuts, they are working. Now concentrate on NK, Iran, Mid East, Pakistan, Islam. Please fuck them up. Thank You.

Companies offshoring jobs at a record pace under trump. Trumps first year 93,000 vs 87,000 average obama's last 4 years. MAGA.

Trump is so good he's creating jobs in foreign lands. #MAGA

So that's why 13 foreign automakers employ 130,000 people in America manufacturing cars. Because we cannot compete. Manufacturing and international trade is a lot more complicated than simple minded Trump sound bites.

Don't let the door hit them in the ass. And I'll gladly be the recipient of any money he can pull out of them in higher taxes and tariffs to give me loans and subsidies.
Trump needs to focus on building the Small companies, repatriate the money large self serving corporations cut out of the middle class years ago.

Tax Harley fund a healthy SBA. Sounds like a win to me. I'll drive a used $3500 Harley from CL if I want a degenerate bike.

How about an apples to apples, like comparing Obama's FIRST four years..

Oops... Liberal Logic again. Here, I'll help:

...."American jobs have been shifting to low-wage countries for years, and the trend has continued during Obama’s presidency. From 2008 to 2010, U.S. trade with China alone cost about 450,000 American jobs because of the growth of Chinese exports, said Robert E. Scott, a pro-labor advocate at the liberal Economic Policy Institute. According to a study by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, large American companies in 2010 barely added any workers in the United States, increasing their numbers by 0.1 percent, while they expanded their foreign workforce by 1.5 percent.

And our tariffs are retailiation for their high, non-free trade tariffs. Like their total ban on all poultry (which has nothing to do with the methods, they've been tariffing the fuck out of US Chicken since the War Ended pretty much, the methods just gave them cover to permaban it) to prevent it entering the European diet as a healthy, high protein competitor to expensive Eurofish and Eurocows.

Canada tariffs US Diary at 270% because they can't compete.

Outdated NAFTA rules allow Europeans and Chinese to manufacture cars with 35% their parts in Canada and Mexico for export into the USA tariff free; that loophole needs to shut.

Wrong again, HD is moving production closer to where demand is and because sales have fallen the last 4 years (because of Trump, right?). The demand has dropped in the US, so they are moving to where the demand is better, in Europe.

Harley-Davidson isn’t riding off to Europe simply because of the Trump tariffs.

Harley-Davison made its first foray outside the U.S. near the end of the Clinton administration in 1999 when it opened a plant in Brazil. The company later acquired a parts maker in Australia during the Bush years. It opened a plant in India in 2011 when Barack Obama was president.

It was probably inevitable that Harley-Davidson would plant a flag in Europe, however. Sales are slowing in the U.S. because of demographic shifts and they are growing in Europe, the company’s second-largest market.

The company eventually aims to generate half its revenue outside the United States.

What the company also failed to mention is that while one Trump policy could cost them money, another saves them plenty of coin. The company could save up to $100 million a year at the lower corporate tax rate under the new Trump tax rules.

Apparently, you didn't either, here , I'll help again:

..."Harley-Davidson will be implementing a plan to shift production of motorcycles for EU destinations from the U.S. to its international facilities to avoid the tariff burden. "

Why ship them from the US if they're destined for the EU? Just build them there to reduce costs, what a novel economic idea!

...."Europe is a critical market for Harley-Davidson. In 2017, nearly 40,000 riders bought new Harley-Davidson motorcycles in Europe, and the revenue generated from the EU countries is second only to the U.S."

Hmmmm... yep, makes no sense to build them near their final destination, right?

What was that I said about sales?

U.S. Steel plans to announce on Thursday that it will spend $1 billion to upgrade its Mon Valley Works, a move the company says will keep the region’s last integrated steel mill operating for decades to come.

The company will build a combined casting and rolling facility — the first of its kind at any American steel mill — and a cogeneration power plant. Put together, the combination aims to reduce emissions and increase the efficiency and sustainability of steelmaking in the Mon Valley.

The facilities, expected to be running by 2022, will also make the Mon Valley Works the Pittsburgh company’s central source of base material for high-strength, lightweight, flexible steel that feeds the automobile sector.

U.S. Steel had sought to implement such technology for years; the announcement scheduled Thursday at the Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock is the culmination company-wide planning combined with improved financials in 2018, CEO Dave Burritt said in an interview this this week.

The Mon Valley Works includes Edgar Thomson, the Clairton Coke Work and the Irvin Plant in West Mifflin. Together they employ about 3,000.
