When the Sheriff's Office has been called 39 times, you've been expelled from the school, you're in an alternative school for high risk kids, you've said you heard voices, the FBI knows about you, kids think you're a serial killer candidate and guess who the shooter was before it was on the news, and the huge campus had instrux not to allow in while wearing backpack...
... and it still happened despite overwhelming notice of past trouble and violence and worse to come...
Blame Guns.
The FBI is incompetent. Warned weeks ago by a tip from somebody who found the kids' videos, looked into it, decided it was a threat, failed to notify local authorities or do any thing else.

Let's make it about the evil FBI! Great idea!

Remember the FBI team that was sleeping when the Jihadi they were tracking went to the airport and left the country as they snoozed in their stake-out car?
Illegal aliens kill more Americans than school shootings.
Drunk drivers kill an order of magnitude more than both combined.
Illegal aliens kill more Americans than school shootings.
Why do you want to muddy the water with a separate topic.
So which LEO are competent?
This is a Family Guy reference:
Make LEO requirements meet the same intellect level as college graduate with a BS in anything but liberal arts.
Then pay them accordingly, with a 50k-100k annual kicker added for risking their lives. (desk jockeys don't get this)
Most LEO requirements education wise are high school diploma or GED.
Bottom line: you get what you pay for...
Education Requirement
Most agencies expect officers to have a high school diploma or GED at a minimum. Some agencies require a bachelor’s degree or a minimum number of college credit hours. Others offer additional pay based on educational attainment. Regardless, education beyond high school will only help you in your law enforcement career. Having a four-year degree or an advanced degree is an asset in your career progression, particularly when seeking a promotion or specialized assignment.

says federal law kept them from doing anything about it.
It wasn't one warning, it was dozens, and it wasn't just the school authorities, but Law Enforcement as well.
The Parents were dead, in fact the mother just died a few weeks before the shooting.
That kids was acting out, begging for help controlling himself, and even neghbors and people from the internet went out of their way to notify the authorities, and yet it still happened.

For those that have parents the dad needs to tune in once in a while with some tough and rough love and tell the kid that life's not fair and society is not responsible for your bad feewings. Suck it up, man up, go work out, go into nature, have fun, be a man, don't hide behind muh feewings and assault rifles Live, work out, hunt, fuck and be responsible for your own destiny. Don't blame society. Don't listen to the lefty soy-boy sirens, there is no privilege, only what you make out of your life and Zuul.
