Truth Social has been banned by Google.
You can't use the play store to download the app.
Their lame excuse is they don't like its "moderation standards."
These kinds of things happen when a foreigner is running things.

Of course.

Google exists to limit your access to information.

That is its purpose.

The US government could put an end to this, don't blame foreign governments. Blame your own government.
The concept of "apps" is going to disappear anyhow, which is a good thing.

As computing power gets cheaper, it becomes easier to make devices that people can afford to go around these companies. I think this is partially why they are trying to force most of the world into bankruptcy and destitution. You really have no concept of how much power a standard piece of shit phone has today. It's incredibly powerful, even a $50 smart phone is.

Solutions will be found.

I have a garbage phone that AT&T sent me for free because they were moving to 5G. It's unusable, yet, the specifications of it are better than my computer was in 2000. It's just bad code that makes it suck, but that problem is being solved believe it or not. It's a $60 phone.

Oh, if anybody wants a TERRIBLE smart phone, I'll wipe it and send it to them. I tried to use it for 9 months, but it's only useful for phone calls. I used my "outdated" 4G phone for everything else.

Rishwicks, the pencil neck CEO of Google is a foreigner.

Perhaps "banning" isn't the worst policy. At least Google is admitting to their anti-competitive and and anti-free-speech behavior. Somewhat worse is Google/Twitter/Facebook's policy of surreptitiously "reducing the reach" of various things they disagree with. Then many people don't even know. More and more is coming out about this technique being used to throw elections while simultaneously evading voting laws (including and most egregiously: in-kind political donations).

As one of the co-founders and controlling shareholders who came from a country with a long tradition of speech suppression.

Why do you keep calling me that?

Yeah, I know, but the CEO really doesn't control the company. That's a myth. The board of directors control the company.

It doesn't matter. People don't realize it, yet, but Google will slide into irrelevancy. The Internet of my youth, is still there.

The internet was designed, at the ground up, to automatically route around damage to continue functioning. It's a self healing network. Censorship is damage.

People bemoan "Oh Facebook Twitter, and Google have betrayed us!!!" - YUP, they SURE have. They aren't your only option. The youtube that existed in 2010, is still around, it's just not called youtube. It's now Rumble, Bitchute, Odysee, etc. THOSE companies may ultimately betray the public, in fact Rumble already has in several instances.

I have a 256 GB SD card I bought for $35. In 2005, the first 500 GB capacity hard disk was shipped by Hitachi. Youtube was launched in the same year. My SD card is faster than that hard disk, has greater longevity, and is far cheaper, even before inflation. Technology can, and does, create problems, but it also provides solutions. The monitor I'm looking at right now, bigger than the family television set when I was 10, back in 1981. Cheaper too, even before including inflation - MUCH cheaper, uses less power, no flicker..

There's a LIMIT to what people want or care about. Do you want a 6 foot television, really? Would you spend, say $200 to DOUBLE the speed of your CPU? We're approaching the point where everything can be generic. Little 7 year old Timmy will be making his own private youtube for his school and friends as a side project - shit like that will start happening.

The top parasites don't, really, understand technology. At first, it seems very complicated and difficult, but there's constant reductions in complexity to the point a child can use it because they work with abstractions. Assembly wasn't that difficult to understand, but Python? You can be an idiot and still work with it (no offense to Python coders).

The problem I'm currently seeing is there is a VERY REAL EFFORT to prevent education, that can be solved too. The first thing though is that you need to convince people "there's a real effort to keep information from you, but here's the real information" and REALLY provide that information to them.

In short, who gives a shit about Google? It's a dead company walking. I've been warning about their underhanded tactics and censorship for over 10 years, and there's people before me that were warning about the centralization of search in 2000.

Well, if 51% of the voters are fooled into voting decisions that are the greater of the two evils (and also convinced that there can only be a choice between two), then the democracy will fail faster than otherwise.

Dude, our voting system is unverifiable. Believe me, this is by design. This is TRIVIAL to do now.

This isn't a democracy (never was), it's not a republic (supposedly was), this is an oligarchical dictatorship.

The mask is slowly falling off. Joe Biden wasn't elected, he OBVIOUSLY wasn't elected. A little more than 1/2 the country realizes it. It has to become more obvious though. The effort is getting people to stop being such pussies and to stop listening to the propaganda.

Google is part of the propaganda. Don't try to save the company, help bury it. I'm in Silly Con Valley, I tell people they are stupid and naive to continue to use Google. They roll their eyes quite often, I just insist they are naive. It's not even useful for TECHNICAL information at this point. It's shit. I'm not going to drag people along with them kicking and screaming, I'll just leave them behind. They're never going to be able to say "why didn't you warn me?" People who depend on Google for information, are obsoleting themselves.

Move then? You're supporting it yourself. You can work anywhere on the planet. You rent or own, whatever, you're helping to keep property values high. Then people want to move there and make the big bucks.

Based on how you've spoken you don't NEED to live there. Go to Nevada or Nebraska and it's a 1-2 hour flight for cheap if family is a concern. You can live for 1/8th the cost of CA. Good weather is a cop out. The laundry list of shit all you CA guys bitch about sounds miserable and bad beaches and standard foothill hiking is not something that great.

And yes, IL sucks. But I live rural. I could find dozens of jobs working from home with the occasional flight to the office. Hell my buddy lives in Montana and is employed by an IL company still where he flies back quarterly.

What I'm saying is you're fighting a battle you'll never win. People have to discover on their own. If you don't like what's around you, move. There are parts of this country that aren't Liberal hipster areas that are amazing places to live. Even with winter in certain spots. You've said it yourself go visit a small town and meet locals. The country is not national politics and it's not remotely CA.

I kind of want to see this place collapse.

Direct... lol. If you want to, awesome. I have no intention of changing you as I've only been to the BA 2-3 times so no idea what I'm talking about. I legitimately want to get out there and meet you, Patrick and others. Aug/Sept '23 I'll be in SoCal. Hopefully sans kids. Wife will be busy with a conference, so I can escape for a night or two. We can start another meet up thread at some point. I'll try to remember around spring break '23. We should know our plans hopefully by then. No CA trips planned until then though.

I'm at the point of zero fucks given though. I care but don't if that makes sense. Can't change habits. Goes for governments or people in general.

@ WookieMan - I'm open to it.

Martinez seems to be the target location right now.

However, I'm not certain where I will be in in '23. Probably with a lead pipe fighting off zombies. This place is hilarious, people are both entirely trusting of the narrative and totally out of touch with the real world. For some bizarre insanity, they think that farmers and truckers are "useless eaters" and the people that make toys aren't, because you know "we're S.M.R.T."

I make toys. That's my job. Toys for adults, but toys.

I grew up in a small town in Nowhere NY, nobody bought into this bullshit of the pandemic there. Bunch of shit-kickers when I was a kid, I have gained ENORMOUS respect in time for them, I looked down on them because they weren't "educated" - educated with the bullshit I am educated with. You know what this place is, a bunch of people that can believe whatever is told to them and remember it and believe in it. There are terribly few thinkers here. I have more in common with a garage mechanic than I do with a another electrical engineer or coder.

I regret my childish disdain. I know who butters my bread now, and it's not some asshole like Bill Gates.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11243567/Google-CEO-Sundar-Pichai-tells-staff-not-equate-money-fun-amid-company-cost-cutting.html

Google staff had asked Pichai why the company was 'nickel-and-diming employees' by slashing their travel and entertainment budgets when 'Google has record profits and huge cash reserves.'

Google's parent company, Alphabet, recorded $69.69 billion in revenue at the end of the second fiscal quarter this June, up more than 12 percent from last year.

However, fears of an upcoming recession triggered by rising federal interest rates have put large tech companies like Alphabet and Meta on high alert, with the former seeing more than a 13 percent drop in stock value over the past month.
