I totally get why Leftists are pissed about DOGE by losing their gravy train and influence, but I can't understand why anyone Right of Center or Libertarian would be so critical - even if Musk overpromised at the start. The Democrats are doing everything they can through the courts to stop DOGE and it has only been a few months.

Even when Musk steps back, DOGE isn't going away during Trump's term and will hopefully continue to shine a light on our government's massive spending abuses to continue to build the case of transparency and reform.

Musk is the latest incarnation of Steve Jobs. Reality distortion is the method - sometimes it gets people to transcend themselves like in a cult and deliver really good shit. Most times it fails miserably.

I don't think we're all that way. I have no issue with Musk. I just won't buy his cars. They're city cars and provide no utility for my needs. Not even debatable if you lived my life or my wife's. There're not practical cars for 20% at least of the population. Nothing to do with the person.

Build a house. Don't think people have realized how ape shit the government has gotten. Nothing to do with Musk or Tesla. Make a guess what R value my ceiling insulation HAS to be? Regulations and codes are killing innovation. I should be able to set the heat to 56 and wear a jacket inside if I want.

I won't be able to put boards down for storage even though we have attic access. It will be that thick. I'm heating my garage as well. Nothing is above it.

The problem with overdoing joist/roof insulation is moisture at least here in IL. Any moisture in the roof from winter or summer and you've got mold. It's not 60 is all I'll say for now. That's high. Not building a sauna house, though I do want a sauna.
