Patrick,

You are starting again with the liberal biased articles. "Wealth distribution", "Health Relief... "

Stick to the mortgage/real estate articles.

If you go back to this BS again, heading into election season, with Saul Alinsky type tactics, I'm going to have to boycott you again as a reader.

I like you too much, why piss off your fans?

Larry

Why are you even here then?

It's a free country , nobody is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to start your browser and navigate to this web page.

LOL. Epistemic closure looks secure with this one.

I don't think anybody here is overly liberal or conservative.

We didn't know that you were gone! If only you'd threatened us that you might be leaving, then reminded us that you were gone... we might have noticed. I'm not sure that we would have cared, but ya never know...

BTW, I looked everywhere on the interwebs - in every tube - and wasn't able to find a single incidence of Saul Alinsky posting a link on a housing crash forum as a method of his style of implementing change. It's super cool that you would assign Patrick the same status as Mr. Alinsky, and I'm sure that Patrick is thrilled to be in such company.

I do remember reading about a "fart-in" that he staged. Larrypatrick, why not start your own blog linking to any article you would like - only eat a lot of fiber first? Just a suggestion.

6   elliemae   2010 Sep 27, 10:23am

...and I absolutely have to ask... "quite" the liberal/political article postings? Quite the postings, indeed.
;)

7   avpmenlo   2010 Sep 27, 3:06pm

Long time reader, first time post. Just couldn't resist...LarryPatrick, it will all "hope"fully "change" in November. Unfortunately, this administration has continued to try to play god in the housing industry, and they have failed, as in pretty much all they have attempted to do in the last two years.

What I really would like to ask Pelosi, Reid, and especially Obama is, do you really believe that you are helping, I mean truly helping the people that need it? Because if you spent a few days around my town, you would see that you have NOT helped, but rather hurt all of us with your ridiculous bills and laws. Spend a week as a normal person, not even homeless, in a middle class neighborhood in California, and maybe they would conclude what needs to be done...

8   Vicente   2010 Sep 27, 3:13pm

I'm not sure why anyone would think Patrick needs to be "single issue".

I read Mish and TickerForum on occasion, and BOY are those guys all over the map. Willing to tackle and insult on just about any front.

By comparison Patrick is, at it's lowest moments in Misc, a positively sedate country club drawing room discussion over brandy and cigars.

I'm sure there's a site somewhere that will fit your refined sensibilities, if not start one.

Like Uber-Liberal Ted Kennedy and Tip Oneil, they have this ego 'thing' so they become legends. At the end they are helping
themselves.

Everything is fucked. How can we "help" people who fucked up their life by buying more house that they can afford?

Should we pay their house payments for them now?

Americans added SIX TRILLION of household debt 2002-2007. There is no help for that. Just, in the immortal words of Treasury Secretary Mellon, liquidation.

All the crap that's been passed now has been attempts to keep the basic shit together and functioning and not repeat the cross-default nightmare that was 1929-32 US of A.

Actually "fixing" this is impossible.

People who aren't in jobs of service might not understand that it isn't a contradiction to help others while simultaneously helping yourself.

And Troy is right. Economically, we are in a stage now called, "how would you like your pain ?"

Never argue with a Liberal that's my motto
Even when they're 100% wrong it's because they "care " more than you do :)

Good question, and thanks for all the "pro" responses, everyone.

I'm a big fan of Patrick. In fact, we have met, face to face and had coffee together. I like Patrick, and I consider him to be a friend.

I'm a regular Schmo, and I don't hide behind an anonymous handle/nic/avatar/etc. You are welcome to check me out on the net.

I like this website, and it grinds my gears that Patrick gets the real estate market perfectly, but he throws in, very subtly from time to time comments/articles about socialized healthcare, and blaiming conservatives for EXACTLY what the socialist democrats did the RE market. Dobb, Frank, Reid even Pelosi can be identified as partners in crime on what they have done.

So how can Patrick on one hand point out the corrupt actions of many of the elites (who are mostly socialists) yet BLAME conservatives (or republicans)?

I enjoy reading the articles, and keeping abreast of the RE market and news.

Hmm. You wouldn't by any chance be a staunch republican would you ? Pretty good read on my part if I do say so.

I know, I know. The whole thing was caused by the politicians who fought for affordable housing and the housing gses. That was the big cause.

The big mortgage players, (countrywide etc) and all those that profited from the selling of mortgage backed securities, the entire unregulated derivatives market, the shadow banking system, errors in monetary policy to keep an economy up that needed to be in recession, the credit ratings agencies (moodys etc), these were all incidental to the real cause,... that is, the socialist elite.

16   Vicente   2010 Oct 6, 2:39pm

So in this scenario:

1) Criminal #1, swipes an apple
2) Criminal #2, robs store, kills all witnesses.

Are they "equally guilty"?

Quite frankly this "it's unfair to blame anyone at all" stuff is high-grade horse-hockey. It's part of a concerted effort to avoid hunting down any guilty parties at all.

What killed us 2004-2006 was not the subprime people, it's the all the refis and cash-outs that both gave us a fake economy and allowed us to run up the total household debt to $14T.

Ditech. Countrywide. Wamu. These people were set free by our CEO president and the deregulation people that he put back into oversight positions over the mortgage industry.

Conservatives were FULLY in charge of all branches of government when this happened.

Unfortunately, this BS ideology was exposed for what it was and the wheels came off in late 2007, partially prompted by Greenspan pushing mortgage rates back up over 6%.

I even have a pretty chart to demonstrate this to you.

http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/HHMSDODNS

And a picture. See any "socialist elites" here?

Krugman, describing this picture:

"The truth is that that’s not at all what happened. The various regulators actually did quite well at acting in a coordinated fashion. Unfortunately, they coordinated in the wrong direction.

"For example, there was a 2003 photo-op in which officials from multiple agencies used pruning shears and chainsaws to chop up stacks of banking regulations. The occasion symbolized the shared determination of Bush appointees to suspend adult supervision just as the financial industry was starting to run wild.

"Oh, and the Bush administration actively blocked state governments when they tried to protect families against predatory lending."

The bubble was just a sequel on another bad economic blow up, the S&L crisis, which had similar antecedents thanks to St Reagan's administration and its deregulation preference if not outright regulatory capture.

Macus,

The legislatures created the opportunity for exploitation and corruption. The Barney Franks of the world AND the bad bankers as well. They run hand in hand.

Hey Nomo! Wanna tag team with me to give therapy here a harsh lesson?

Sure. Lets start out with the Dirty Sanchez, then move on to a Bucking Bronco. We can finish up with an Eiffel Tower.

Why don't we all do a "Let's pop Nomo's mom in the backside and make a newer, improved Nomo 2" that's not such a raging jerk-off, like the current broken version.

LOL. I win. You lose. Because you're a self-indulgent psychopath, That's just how it goes.

Amen.

I am kinda in agreement with this post. I know I like Patrick but the liberal agenda and any political agenda should be prohibited on this forum. Most if not all of want housing news. Especially since I know many of us donated money to this site.

Another thought........I could give a flying you know what about they are doing in Australia and England in regards to housing. I wont even read it. It just look like you are trying to fill in some spots. I don't know about anybody else but I find nothing on those new articles interesting.

Now politically I am interested in those countries.........like England is being over run with radicals Muslims and the Aussies are throwing them out.........

ewww icky poo, like the evil baroness in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang would say, icky childen. Too icky for Cool and Hip 'Friscans. No wonder some say 'Frisco is the "most European" city in the USA. Our European cousins are apparently as Cool and Hip as our Friscans, too Cool and Hip for children (or religion) in their lives, so they're in demographic decline. Except for their Muslim communities, which are growing and producing Islamic Europeans.

It is only a matter of a few generations before the European Union will be the Islamic European Union.

Cool beans. But I'd like to add that, since I don't live in Calif, I'd like Patrick to limit the links to those that are applicable across the entire U.S. I can forgive if Alaska or Hawaii are left out because one is separated from us by another country and the other one is in the middle of the ocean - so they don't count. But links that apply specifically to California are an affront to the rest of us "US Americans" (ode to Miss South Carolina).

Another valid point. When I donated my dollar, I bought & paid for Patrick's undying devotion to meeting my own personal preferences. I am a Lib, and therefore request that no links to any faux news outlet be posted on this forum ever again. I'm cool with Huffington Post, tho.

While we're at it, I'd like those links to the NAR propaganda to stop completely. Even if they're posted to be ironic, they still bother me in the same way that ads for escort services do - both promote prostitution-like services but neither actually say it out loud. People just end up paying for getting screwed and come away feeling empty inside.

I'm Jewish, so nothing posted by the Christian Science Monitor, please.

I take exception to links with videos, unless there's a gorgeous man in there somewhere. This is a personal request for no other reason than a little eye candy makes me a cappy hamper.

Amen.

Oh, and please don't allow any posts that end in "Amen." That's a clear violation of the separation of church and state (please refer to my request about everything being applicable in all the states in US America, above).

I do believe that I'll soon have other requests, because my dollar (literally) came with strings attached and I lack the ability to simply not click on something for which I have little or no interest.
