Last night I saw a news report about how the banks are supposedly frantically hiring lots of mortgage modification specialists.  Just for fun I checked the California Jobs database and I could only find three listings for jobs involving mortgage modification  in the entire state of California. Obviously the banks are not paying any attention at all to Obama's  mortgage rescue plan and don't  intend to do any large scale modification of anything.

That's funny, you probably did more news gathering than those who are paid to report the news. It's pathetic what the news has been reduced to. They just spew out whatever they are told without actually investigating.

You might want to search on Monster.com instead of the California public database. I found 70 nationwide just by searching: http://jobsearch.monster.com/Search.aspx?brd=1&q=loan%20modification&cy=us&lid=316&re=130#brd=1&q=loan%20modification&cy=us&lid=316&re=130

Of course I just did a simple search but you might find more if you know a better search term than "loan modification".

Only about 35 of the jobs on Monster.Com deal directly with mortgage modifications and only 5 are in the State of California so I still see no evidence that the banks are on a "hiring binge" to modify loans under the Obama rescue plan. California now has about 500,000 loans needing modification in the next few months and 5 more people won't do much for that situation.
I also noticve that the unemployment situation continues to be inaccurately reported. Bloomberg and the Associated Press wrote two stories in the past two days saying that "continuing unemployment claims" are at 6.5 million.
But I checked out the Department of Labor weekly claims report and they clearly show 9.5 million
people now receiveng unemployment checks. I emailed the Bloomberg reporter about this discrepancy
and of course got no reply.
Tomorrow a new weekly claims report will be posted at the Department of Labor and I am very interested
in what it will say compared to what the news media will report concerning unemployment.
