Dr. Joel Wallskog, an orthopedic surgeon and father of four, received one dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in December 2020 at the age of 50. Within a week, he began experiencing numbness and weakness and was diagnosed with transverse myelitis (TM).
Despite undergoing multiple treatments, he continues to suffer from a partial spinal cord injury and has been unable to return to work as a surgeon. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Dr. Wallskog said, “I still suffer from a partial spinal cord injury that results in weakness in my legs, numbness in my feet, poor balance, and a tendency to fall.”
