In order to protect your wealthy I highly recommend you watch or read the book. Current law is your a beneficiary of assets/stocks and they can be seized for the greater good or to protect the banks if the system where to collapse. Things to prepare limit debt, physical assets property, physical gold, farm land. Own assets that are necessary energy -oil fertilizer -food etc

What exactly would prevent "them" from taking land, gold and such? Your shotgun, loaded with deadly birdshot? If property rights wrt stocks and such are about to be violated, what makes him think other property rights will be honored? What's so special about them?

Although unmentioned in the text, there is an assumption. You have children, perhaps even grandchildren. You want the world to be a place where they can thrive. Globohomo is attacking this idea at it's root - no children, no thought to the future. Population reduction is pure concentrated evil. Those with no concern of legacy for their children will drink the nihilist koolade and clap for joy when the world burns around them.

Semi-related, but I always thought that guys who bragged about having Gold IRAs or Gold Mining stocks... if the government was hard up enough to go track down people with physical metal, that would come long after they siezed the representations of Gold.
