Blinding headlights are growing problem on US roads https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0nBlZwUT3s

"If you ever drive at night, there’s a good chance you’ve noticed an increasing problem with blinding headlights. In some cases, people are simply driving around with their high beams on, but that doesn’t fully explain the problem. Anyone who’s flashed their lights at an oncoming driver to let them know their high beams are on, only to get hit with their actual high beams can tell you that. One thing is for sure, though — it’s not a good thing." https://jalopnik.com/you-re-not-imagining-it-blinding-headlights-are-a-real-1850112863

The Glare Of Headlights Even From Scooters Is Scary These Days

"One cannot just see anything at all on the road in this blinding glare. Are all world-class brands ignoring this big road safety issue completely? What is various governments' stand internationally?

Just because the person inside such a vehicle needs to see the road brighter, he/she cannot take away the right of the other person to have a clear view of the road at the same time. It is plain injustice.

What was so wrong with the good old yellow vehicle lights that we had been driving with for decades?"

Good question! There was nothing wrong with the old yellow vehicle lights!

"Thousands of drivers sign petition calling for ban on 'blinding' vehicle headlights

The Soft Lights Foundation is calling for a ban on what it calls "blinding headlights", circulating a petition that has more than 41,000 signatures.

"I've got a small car. This truck is so much higher than me. Those headlights are going straight into my eye," said Mark Baker, President of the Soft Lights Foundation.

More people are buying taller vehicles. In 2010 56% of vehicles sold were SUVs or trucks and by 2021, they accounted for 81%.

"How is that going to be safe? So there's a mismatch between small cars and super large cars that NHTSA should be having standards for," said Baker.

The Soft Lights Foundation says another factor is LEDs. It says the intensity and color temperature distract drivers, causing accidents and illness, like migraines and more."

The replacement of street light bulbs with low shine, pussy Greentard ones make for some pretty dark streets these days.

(Real reason for them has nothing to do with the environment but everything to do with cities wanting to save $$$ from soaring electricity prices in Greentardopia states like California).

That's why I have been forced to turn mine on. I do turn them off when a car in the opposing lane drives by. They never reciprocate.

LED's are really bad for you on the white/blue end of the spectrum. We don't notice as much due to heavily tinted windows, but it's fucking annoying. And last time I went to Home Depot, couldn't find any of the normal light bulbs anymore.

I went in a Dumpling restaurant next to the Asian grocery store I was at yesterday. They had about 40 dangling pendent lights in the place, and yet the place was so dim(the black walls didn't help), that I couldn't read their black menu with purple writing. So I just left without buying anything. I miss the good ole days, when there was just one overhead light in the room, and you could read anything on anything anywhere in the room at anytime, from the light of just that one light.

I left when I realized the place was probably so dim, they didn't want their customer to notice that they are selling the frozen cheap ass thin skinned pot stickers from the freezer out of the store next door.

Completely banned now as of this year due to Potatus Proclamation. I bought some of the last incandescences for fun but have them stashed away for special occasions. From Lowes though.

Thing is, they insist on seeing a giant puddle of white light on the road in front of the car instead of insisting on seeing objects on the road and around it. It's pretty comical actually: an average person is usually unnerved with old-style halogen headlights and feel much better after so-called fog lights are switched along with them, because they light up that scary void right in front of the bumper which is there when old stile halogen headlights are set up properly. =))

I have couple of cars with oft-maligned H4 headlights and this is what happens when somebody accustomed to these newfangled LED lights gets to drive them: "OMG, the light is so horrible, I can't see anything. -- Switch on the fogs. -- Yay, so much better! -- But these are foglights, they don't light up anything you need to see at normal driving speeds. -- I don't care, it's just BETTER".
