He would have been done if he didn't' have a handy window breaker in his car.
I wouldn't want one of these things within 50 yards of where I sleep.. I'm starting to question the practicality of ear buds. .It's only a matter of time before one of those rechargeable batteries goes pyrotechnic in the middle of listening to BOC I'm Burning for you. .

There is a mechanical unlocking lever on the front door.

Try to go through those steps under stress and in fire. All that reliance on electronics is big land mine

There's literally no reason to have anything electronic to open a freaking door. That's like have an electronic key assist on a padlock.

What steps? You grab the mechanical release handle on the door and pull it - the door opens. No different from any other car (excep C7 Corvette which has the release handle on the floor).

Consider if a car goes into the water, you wouldn't be able to open the door against a 1000 lbs of water. Anybody that has electric windows should have something in the car that will shatter that window.

My car flashlight has a "tactical" bottom — essentially aluminum spikes. The flashlight is in the (mechanical) glove compartment ready to attack the windows. I usually don't want electronic stuff where mechanical works just fine, but the ability to open or close all the windows from the driver's seat is handy.

Many apartment and condo complexes have underground parking. I wonder how long it'll take before parking underground will be prohibited. Nah... in California safety, cost, and effectiveness aren't the point; it's all about the virtue signaling of saving the planet.

I agree. I don't even like electric windows.

From the CIA/FBI/NSA point of view, it's nice to be able to remotely control what the plebes can do.
