An Alien with access to nothing but TV Broadcasts would think the USA is 80% Black.

You ever notice White Men are demanded to have humility and introspection, while wymyn and minorities are encouraged to be obnoxious and externalizing?

Majorities are being conditioned to behave this way in many countries. It gives better control to the puppeteers

One thing I'm interested in doing is a distributed video system just like bit torrent, BUT it will handle real time video. So as you download a packet, you upload to two different peers, so that live video (delayed maybe by a minute) will be possible. I'm seeing live streams that I regularly watch on youtube being shut down - they are considered "news" oriented.

Good idea.

Something I might work on one day as a hobby and charitable contribution of my codez is peer to peer / mesh networks. I love the idea of end users being able to spin up their own network, potentially connected via wifi, in both natural disasters, as well as opposition to oppressive governments and woke ISPs.

@Hircus

This would be very useful.

I have plans for a project to let people surf home-hosted websites via scp.

This would remove the ability to shut down websites via DNS blocking (because there wouldn't be any DNS) or via revoking SSL certificates (because there wouldn't be any SSL).

Traffic would still be encrypted, just via ssh encryption and not SSL encryption.

If each web page were signed with your private key, you would also have authentication.

And if your web pages were freely distributed in a reciprocal manner with other interested people, it would be very hard to censor all of the copies.

And that is why white people are no longer in commercials. Because the bulk of white people no longer watch ad driven commercial tv.

So it might be a soda-style situation. White people have cut soda consumption 20% in the past two decades, but minorities have not. Therefore, all commercials for soda feature Twerking.

Interesting. How would that work? scp to pull down the webpage + assets, then load from a local web server via browser?

I recall you brainstorming for a solution to dns and ssl certs a long time. Good to hear you came up w/ an idea.

@Hircus

Yes, you'd have a local web server which would be a proxy to scp.

So everything would look like it's coming from unencrypted localhost, like:

http://localhost/(hash of content author public key)/path/to/content

The "hash of content author public key" would take a long ssh public key like:

AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAADAQABAAABAQC0KQXbwiY2ZOuY2kYPGMnLvemptRTI/uzeduwg0R+ZLra9kIM44DP+gwN6CEqDen2kxOB8UrBg1T4WHyfAOkXhOjiCXjlIffE8tQBjMbxMjXU2JK4UPY8OogJdGDKYOijXwICXiMbLfxqybmAPGxPw5ZeJNfKhHB3NV33G0tMnesxGlWB9trqCvQLNmbH7loYcdXHJv7ZqBN1G/7WP2n6LW1+/0GjtPCWaFNodyULs/5SyxsDDAtG/cSnMe3KyuoUX9u6M9C6QrHY12q/CnDE5DWYma8RXcLQJptKgFh/1tFtM0KbxqRcHqV/SfLixmGH1LgEZLVsbW/S92uW048A1

And hash it down to, say, four English words like "correct.horse.battery.stapler" for something easy to remember.

Site authors would have to somehow publish a mapping of the hash to their key, perhaps on the Bitcoin blockchain. Haven't quite got that worked out, but absolutely cannot be DNS.

But then you'd know that anything you surf at http://localhost/correct.horse.battery.stapler/ was actually from the person who owns that public key without any need for SSL.

And the traffic would all be encrypted in transit via scp.

Notice Television, Cable, Computers, Cell Phones, and the latest and greatest Generation of those things, all became less important to the major players, as soon as the Networks lost the upmost attention from the majority plurality. So many people have cut the cord, and are finding alternative ways to entertain themselves with their digital devices.
Now they focus on making crap, and if you're a good Citizen trying to create a good Social Credit Score, then you'll get with the program.

All of a sudden new innovations in Streaming boxes disappeared, Roku and Android, are the two major players. They are built in every Television, so new innovative boxsets are a thing of the past. Even the Televisions, the 8K push disappeared. Old televisions are back to their retail glory price tag. Gone are getting a generation or two earlier max resolution, or what they were calling HDTV the previous few years, 42 to 52 inch TV to $less than $350 for a name brand. Those are back to $600 or so, and the cheap 8K are on hold now.
There's not one new movie I would want to rent, or pay to see, there isn't a single television show I want to watch.
In fact one of the Toddler horde in the house broke my TV in the bedroom and I haven't even had the desire to replace it.

Whites are disappearing from in front of the television as well.

This is good news.

The television is nothing more than a propaganda box anyhow. It's not just "news" that's propaganda, it's EVERYWHERE. Somebody was telling me how awful and stupid the Star Trek Discovery was, so I just grabbed an episode (they briefly had a couple episodes on youtube to try to garner interest), and yeah, it's woke ideology and abysmal writing. The writers are truly horrible.

Back in the day when they made the original series, there were some SERIOUS science fiction writers that worked on that, and they certainly consulted people that new something about science. These new idiots, are just awful. They have a non binary character in this last year, and some other stupid shit. It's just terrible. It's not even so bad that it's good, but it amusing to listen people in various places just critique the shit out it. Imagine if the Ghostbusters 2016 kept getting sequels despite it being universally hated. That's what it's like.

@Patrick.

NOTE: This bot is CRAP - you can't upload or download more than 1 file at a time. This is a hack, proof of concept.

Here, play around with this if you like:

0E01B54108F3F9AC049F763446CA00F257AEC1CDE094359CDC3FBD928D9F2368E7A8DA22CF37

That's a TOX id. That's a bot I'm running on a pi. Tox is a point to point communication protocol. It's very flawed, but it sort of works. You can upload and download files from that account - just type "help" once you connect.

https://qtox.github.io/
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=chat.tox.antox&hl=en_US&gl=US

Here's the general entry point for tox: https://tox.chat/

This protocol can be generalized to go beyond just chats. They problem with SCP is you have to be able to setup your router, you don't with Tox, but Tox is crap right now.

Patrick, I assume one must know the ip of the server to ssh/scp to? Basically that's probably distributed with the user's public key? Why scp instead of ssh tunnels?

Have you considered using regular https in browsers, but just use self signed certs? Putting the user's cert in your local trust store basically makes it a root cert. Since a self signed cert has no upstream certs, there's no one to revoke it.

A benefit of this way would be better/easier compatibility. Adding a base dir to urls like
http://localhost/(hash of content author public key)/
likely requires complicated proxy code that scans html, js, cookies, headers etc... to rewrite paths. It can be done, and I know existing proxy server projects do it, but the js part is the place where I imagine they never quite get perfect compatibility. Same goes for changing the domain and/or port by using localhost, you'll need to rewrite content. Well, unless the site author does a perfect job of using relative paths.

I guess a drawback is that when using certs, angry npcs at google could possibly alter chrome to block certain certs "known for disseminating hate speech", whereas your method would require they modify scp to block a public key. Because with your method, the browser is just connecting to a local webserver, w/ no easy way for them to id the source of the content.

Maybe instead of using a base url, make domains via the host file, which all just point to 127.0.0.1. By having a dedicated domain that points to the local web server (like http://correct.horse.battery.stapler ), the browser cross domain security model will remain in tact, whereas using a base url, you will have issues with websites reading each others data, because you cannot guarantee isolation.
