Because people who couldn’t stand Trump voted Biden for president but the republican for senator so that Biden doesn’t pack the courts.
Not saying it’s the correct strategy, but I used the same logic in reverse. I HATE Lindsey Graham with the fury of 1000 suns but I still voted for him because I couldn’t take the chance of Biden winning and then packing the courts with a D senate.
