France and America discovered their first coronavirus cases within a week of each other. I bet coronavirus was tearing through the Pacific Northwest and parts of California before most of Western Europe except Italy.

How can a country like France who is less than 25% of our population have more net deaths than America at this point and be considered to have have the #1 Best Health Care system in the world?

For sure US is leaps and bounds better than most other countries in terms of cancer treatment. When I was diagnosed with late stage cancer a decade ago, I sought support in a few online forums and wound up talking with a lot of other patients particularly from Canada, UK, Australia and Germany. Very happy I did not have to deal with the waits and distances presented in UK, Canada, and Australia. Consensus was that Germany had better treatment than the US but at least part of that was based on kooks who wanted alternative treatments which were more readily available in Germany.

It seems these studies are heavily slanted in favor of countries where national government funded healthcare exists. Personally I think it sucks, mostly since the rich can avoid the system all together while everyone else is stuck with the waits and rationing of service.

It's BS. They love to rate on "life expectancy", which has more to do with genetics of the population than anything. Ratings are pure BS. Here’s a stat for you, Asian Americans in New Jersey live 5 years longer than those in Japan. Explain that one? Here's some life expectancy numbers.

Hong Kong comes in at 84.63
Japan is the #1 nation at 84.2.
Singapore is at 82.9.
South Korea 82.7.

If you compare Asian Americans in general, we are blowing them out of the water in our life expectancy. NJ comes it at a whole 5 years higher than the #1 performing nation in the world for people of similar ethnic orgin. 24 of our individual states have a higher life expectancy for Asian Americans than Hong Kong.

These Europeans are older than Americans on average, and thus more susceptible to corona.

When I visited Spain, once we traveled out of major cities, it struck me as a third world country that grows a ton of food.

I believe the median age of the Netherlands and France is only a couple years higher than the US.

America has much higher prevalence of diabetes and fat/unhealthy people too - so I would think that would help normalize the populations.

Don't know about Netherlands, but Southern Europe also smokes like crazy which should help with corona deaths.

Smokers in France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands are about 25% of the population compared to 17% of the US.

Yet - Spain and Italy are ranked the 2 healthiest countries in the world which factors in smoking, diabetes, access to healthcare etc.

So Italy supposedly has the healthiest population and the 2nd best healthcare system IN THE WORLD - but is totally getting nailed by the Coronavirus while other countries are doing much better. WTF??

Go look at the WHO formula. Its deeply political, and rewards socialized medical systems for being "fair". "*Fairness of financial contribution*: When WHO measured the fairness of financial contribution to health systems, countries lined up differently. The measurement is based on the fraction of a household's capacity to spend (income minus food expenditure) that goes on health care (including tax payments, social insurance, private insurance and out of pocket payments). Colombia was the top-rated country in this category, followed by Luxembourg, Belgium, Djibouti, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Norway, Japan and Finland. "

If you look into the WHO numbers you find US ranks #1 in responsiveness and we have the lowest 5 year mortality rate for cancer patients. We will also lead the world in innovation to conquer CV. Watch.

Yep - remember that when Progressives cite statistics like this when they argue for Medicare for All and Single Payer in the US.
