Regarding San Francisco though I think that the city should simply put up as many public restrooms as feasable. This is an expenditure that doesn't cost the world and would improve its image and tourism drastically. Win-win. "I see people waiting in line at the toilet in Civic Center and I tell them just to go to Starbucks," said Dina Hilliard, executive director of the North of Market/Tenderloin Community Benefit District. "You have no idea when that door will open and when it does there will probably be a mess."

The problem is they likely cut a corrupt sweetheart deal with that company, they always do. Automation is not always cheaper and it was obvious it wouldn't work here. They should put welfare recipients to clean up work if they want to keep their benefits and maybe offer shelter in exchange for homeless able volunteers. Despite the rhetoric human labor is still affordable - unless leftoids continue to fuck it up and raise the minimum wage of a burger flipper to that of a surgeon - and the threat of withholding welfare benefits can work wonders. Just put simple toilets in there and have people clean them daily, you know, like Starbucks does.

Seems like they're packing in more passengers at the expense of increasing the common areas to account for more passengers. Basically adding more people, but not necessarily the square footage that everyone has to hang out in on a boat. That's the feeling I got on my last adventure on a boat. Want to see if you come back with a different opinion.

I read a facinating accout of a peace corps worker who explained how Africa/Africans will NEVER change. You could build an impoverished African community entire modern farming village and by the next year there will be no harvest, all of the equipment sold off, and the village elders/leaders fat and happy while the rest of the people are destitute again. The concept of ownership, consequence, planning, etc are completely foreign to them. Jobs are just places you go to steal and pilfer as much as you can for your family without getting caught. Money can't be saved because it belongs to the family/tribe. There's no possible way to Westernize them and/or create a successful African Nation or United Africa.

Fuck, I wish Puerto Rico could be better. Hurricane fucked things up, but it wasn't doing great, obviously, before that. Don't have to pay international fees to fly there from the US. Honestly, a little bit. Not really though. I fly Southwest for free, so that fee is the only thing I'm paying. Cancun international fees for a family of 4 is close to $300 vs. $44 to PR. Same with most the other international locations SW flies. Not a massive savings, but hey, it's a free night at an average hotel or 3-4 dinners out while on vacation. Plus we travel about 4 times a year, not necessarily international though of course.

I like the Caribbean, so it would be nice if PR was in a little better shape I guess what I was more a less getting at in a convoluted way. I will still likely go there in the next couple of years anyway, so I'm not saying I'm afraid to go there. When you posted that graph, I was taken aback with PR's ranking. I knew it was bad of course, just not N. Korea level bad.
