Think I'm nuts? It's the official platform of SPD:

The SPD leaders, whose party is lagging Merkel's Christian Democrats in the polls by 15 percentage points, said Germany would have to nearly double current defense spending from 37 billion euros to meet the NATO target. That would make it the largest military power in Europe - a goal they said “no one could want” given Germany's Nazi history.

Instead, they said, Germany should focus on building a strong European defense union and, ultimately, a European army - a stance that may resonate with a deeply pacifist German public that remains skeptical of military engagements.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-germany-election-military-spd/germanys-spd-rejects-nato-2-percent-defense-spending-target-idUSKBN1AM001
Keep in mind, they laughed at Churchill, proudly declaring he was a warmongering eccentric, if not downright delusional, literally right up until the Sudentenland. And all the Liberals of the day claimed "Peace in Our Time."

We really should be thinking about how to divide Germany into Saxony, Prussia, Bavaria, Hannover, etc.and if Morganthau was right all along.

I'll admit my lack of knowledge on German politics. Is this a bad or good thing? I really don't care either way. Europe is due for a world war anyway. If it's bad news, it will be the Germans as usual.

New Merz government orders the pushback of all illegal migrants at the German borders, effectively abolishes asylum as a path into Germany

From today, ALL migrants will be prevented from crossing Germany’s land borders illegally – even if they claim asylum. Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (54, CSU) has given the order …

Lol, so it was legal to cross illegally before?

Same as in the US: cross illegally, claim asylum, stay in the country while it's being processed.

Back in the 20th Century, the BRD (Bundesrepublik Deutschland aka West Germany) had a list of approved names for boys and girls. It was about 10K names. If you tried to get fancy, no birth certificate unless the child was given "a proper German name." I'm pretty sure that list back then didn't include Mohammed, but back then, German citizenship was restricted to people who could prove German ancestry.

They couldn't have had hyphenated last names at birth, too. Only the father's.

Married women also could have hyphenated last names or their husband's, that's it. That was the best German feminists were allowed.

I remember being very surprised when I heard about this. But maybe it is the right thing to do for national unity, to offset the harms of diversity.

They also used to have a good rule that the name has to clearly indicate which sex a person is.

Another good German naming rule:

When it comes to surnames, German law states that a child must take on their father’s last name unless there is a legal reason why this cannot be done.

It's weird as fuck in the PRNY. It's all toxic feminism, until you get married. My wife gets soft dissed all the time because she retained her family name and didn't take mine (we agreed that it would be useful in case we needed a spare Ace race card when it came to children). My son bears my surname.

The liberal hypocrisy in the PRNY is so thick you need the Jaws of Life to cut through it.

Living this now. I think it's an awful idea depending on the countries laws with regards to kids. It's been an absolute nightmare with my nephew. This mainly is for out of wedlock kids. If the biological dad is a deadbeat I have no issue with the mom taking the last name on the kids birth certificate. You got 9 months to think about it. My sister in law did not listen to our advice and messed up hugely.

We now have to get notarized letters from a baby daddy in prison to get things done because he's on the birth certificate. SIL can't drive. Getting this all done can take 10 hours and a bunch of driving. Passport was the worst and we have renewal coming up in the next year.

My situation is rare, but we can't even go to a restaurant in most places without getting stared at because he's black with 4 white people. Last name wouldn't make a difference there, but with travel that 10 hours goes down to 1 and we don't get accused of trafficking. My SIL could have just signed off on it without baby daddy.

If married I do think the kid(s) should take the fathers last name. If not married, the mom's should always use their last name in my opinion and keep baby daddy off the BC. It's significantly easier to change the last name once you're married for the child. You'll know after month 3-5 if you can put a ring on it. You'll see the real chick you screwed.

https://www.eugyppius.com/p/the-european-union-is-paying-ngos

On our supersecret terminal is a truly insane contract concluded in 2022 between the EU Commission and a non-governmental organisation known as ClientEarth. In this instrument, the Commission agreed to pay ClientEarth €350,000 in exchange for specific activism in Germany. This included the things you’d expect; for example, the NGO pledged to cooperate with the environmentaloid scene and to help stage civic protests and climate camps. But ClientEarth also sold the more nefarious service of waging lawfare against coal-fired German power-plants, and this in the immediate aftermath of the German energy crisis. The Commission specifically wanted ClientEarth to “increase the financial and legal risk of the ownership and operation of [coal-fired] power plants,” by targeting their emissions and water use permits in court. They were to carry out their work without the knowledge of the German government, effectively weaponising our own courts against us.

The ClientEarth agreement was but one of many such contracts concluded between the EU Commission and various NGOs for similar purposes. Altogether, the Commission dispensed over €15 million in taxpayer funds in 2022, all of it for activist and lobbying activities in 2023. That may not sound like a lot, but we must remember, first, that NGOs are by and large an extremely cheap way to influence public discourse; and, second, that Welt am Sonntag has had access only to contracts concluded in this one year. These general tactics are thought to go back to 2017 at least and they are presumed to be ongoing.

https://www.eugyppius.com/p/migrants-will-not-stop-molesting

In the last ten years, we’ve welcomed a lot of ill-behaved and criminal young men into our country for no discernible reason, and along the way we’ve had the dubious privilege of discovering whole new categories of crime. There is the hostile-immigrant-drives-his-car-into-a-crowd-of-unsuspecting-innocents crime, there is the hostile-immigrant-stabs-a-bunch-of-random-people crime, there is the immigrant-gang-collectively-rape-underage-girl-in-park crime, and there is the immigrants-at-swimming-pool-molest-or-assault-various-children crime.

The latter has been stealing the headlines since the latest (allegedly carbon dioxide-induced) “heatwave” in Germany. Recent stories include this one about a 25 year-old man of undisclosed background (who is almost certainly a migrant, otherwise authorities would not be so secretive about his origins) exposing himself to a bunch of underage teenagers at a pool in Asperg (Baden-Württemberg). Or this one, about a 21 year-old Syrian at a pool in Schweinfurt (Bavaria) caught exposing himself to four boys. Or this one, about men of “dark complexion” who severely beat an 18 year-old and threw him down some stairs. Or this disturbing one, about two Syrians who groped and assaulted a 12 year-old girl at a pool in Hof (Bavaria), forcing her beneath the water repeatedly and leaving her with a bloody nose. ...

Naturally, this is but a partial list comprising only those news reports that I found, that anybody bothered to report to the police and that have made it into the press. The problem is vastly more pervasive than my brief summary might suggest. Personally, I haven’t been to a public pool in Germany in 10 years. I would never go again, and I would certainly never send my kids there. What used to be occasionally amusing places to get a bit of exercise have become crowded loci of urban chaos invariably full of drunken 20 year-old men from the global south. Everybody knows this is happening but it’s very politically incorrect to acknowledge that it’s happening, and so it’s become the occasion for a great deal of bizarre messaging from our progressive establishment. ...

Another poster from the same series informs viewers that “groping” is “forbidden” and likewise features a blonde German offender, because obviously that’s the problem demographic here. ...

All of that is irritating enough, but it’s nothing compared to the posters devised by a literal blue-haired city bureaucrat in Büren (near Paderborn), which take the woke programme so far around the bend that I had trouble believing they weren’t intended as subversive parodies. In the anti-groping category, Büren provides this insane PSA of a fat red-haired woman molesting a diminutive black man with a prosthetic leg, while a bizarre sea turtle named Tiki lurks beneath them and deplores unwanted touching.

... Aside from other obvious objections, what strikes me about these posters is how infantilising and trivialising they all are – waving away an entire category of crime that is overwhelmingly, disproportionately committed by adult male migrants as some kind of cartoonish childhood problem that just requires a bit of schoolmarmish clarification to iron out.

https://expose-news.com/2025/07/28/german-freedom-activist-arrested-for-evading-tax/

In April 2020, Michael Ballweg successfully sued in the German Federal Constitutional Court against the ban on assemblies implemented in response to the covid “pandemic.” This meant that public protests were again permitted. Consequentially, hundreds of thousands demonstrated nationwide against covid measures and for fundamental rights, peace and freedom.

Ballweg was arrested in June 2022 and held in prison for 9 months; his trial began last year and is now coming to an end. The process has revealed the political motivations of the prosecutors.

One charge was dismissed as having insufficient evidence. Another has turned southward for the prosecutors; it was claimed Ballweg evaded paying tax but, instead, during the trial, evidence has come to light that he is due a refund from the tax office.

The Americans and the British before them expended enormous effort to preempt the emergence of a dominant power on the European Continent that might challenge their successive naval empires. They fought two world wars to stop Germany from becoming just such a power. This great struggle ended in 1945 with Western Europe as a fully subjugated imperial province. Since then, the Americans have coordinated the NATO alliance and guaranteed the security of European countries not out of charity, but because Europe is their provincial possession. As a rule, they have not wanted Europe to assume full responsibility for its own defence, because a world in which America no longer guarantees the security of Europe is a world in which Europe is no longer an American province. It’s that simple.

To fend off the Soviets, the Americans nevertheless rebuilt and rearmed the nations of Western Europe. Everyone involved in this project had to come up with a way to allow the Germans to become a dominant economic power again, without displacing the United States or provoking the hostilities of wary postwar neighbours like France. One solution here was the European Union, which promoted economic interdependency as a counterweight to nationalist concerns. Another solution came at the cultural level, where Germany sought to allay European anxieties over possible Teutonic aggression by developing a national cult of historical guilt for World War II, which steadily blossomed into a full-blown civic religion. This exercise in self-effacement has grown more and not less extreme over time, in part as a response to nervousness about the consequences of German reunification. Many voices on the right like to portray Germans as victims of an externally imposed guilt regime, but the truth is that we did most of this to ourselves. The German left in particular has profited from and encouraged this mindset from the beginning.

German political self-effacement had one unexpected feature, in that it proved to be contagious. Within a generation of 1945, many of the victorious allied powers were striving to develop their own historical guilt cults after the German example, in each case centred around a national original sin like slavery or colonialism. ...

It has been four generations since any major European nation plotted an independent geopolitical agenda; the very idea is a nightmare for our rulers, and many of the resulting alliances would remind people of unfortunate early 20th-century geopolitical configurations. This is primarily why European leaders have developed such a fanatical obsession with the war in Ukraine. For the moment, the conflict defines Russia as an external threat and suppresses all discussions about the different national interests of EU member states.
