I'm starting to think that all these divisions and hate are really just compensation for the lack of community in daily life. As America lost its single identity, it lost its feeling of community and mutual trust.

We evolved over a million years as fairly small groups that took care of each other, and were suspicious of outsiders.

So maybe all the protesting is really just a way of finally once again belonging to a community that will "have their back" no matter what. The protests and the hate are not really about the details of what either side believes, it's only about belonging.

Maybe this idea is only partially right and it really is about the details as well, but still.

Instead of "E pluribus unum" it's "Out of many, even more little subgroups" now.

Yeah I think there is some truth to it. The left views family as a dirty wold and instead chooses big gumnt and kumbayaism, do whatever you want, whenever you want with no consequences. The heart is gone, the willingness to adjust to be in a community, you can't be an extreme individual- a man can be a woman because he feels it at that moment, a white can be a black, nothing is off limits.

If you are going to be a community, there has to be some shared beliefs, some individual things you might have to push to the background for the shared belief system to succeed. The left broke all that and instead of freedom, just found a vast empty hole of blackness. if you can do whatever you want, whenever, -then there is no purpose and meaning anymore, no shared community to grow, no common adversity.

I think they are like the injured bears lashing out at anything that is trying to help them. I mean all trump is saying is America first, help ourselves and they call him Hitler. Something is definitely off. I don't think we can go back to the old ways-short of gutting alimony and insane child support-but people need their freedom and be allowed to fail and live out the consequences of their choices. Else we are doomed.
