Dan,
Don't listen to them.
It doesn't matter what Strategist or Ft Wayne or anybody else on this forum thinks...
It only matters what the boys down at Georgies think...

...those things aren't wrong, correct?

That's a correct conclusion for reasons you explained in a prior thread about how to evaluate a fair system of morality, similar to shuffling a deck of cards and then cutting the deck. I'm glad you pointed it out though because it will be interesting to see if this time Forthood acknowledges his errors/lies (or Ignores and persists, as he has tended to do).

Hitler was really evil based on your own definition and frankly any definition seriously propounded. Even if you cite Nietzsche's master/primary morality, Hitler was really evil because he hijacked and destroyed his own country, worsening the lives of most of the people who had trusted him (including getting many of them killed, and driving his own wives to suicide with no children). You can say that other people did good and bad things, but there is no way that you can sensibly call anyone "evil" without calling Hitler evil.

Ceptin the Nazis really were just another form of communism.

Because Communists are totally down with superstition, killing people for their unalterably perceived ethnicity and religion (as opposed to killing based on people's actions and beliefs, which are voluntary), allowed corporations (IG Farben, Krupps), etc.

Whereas Conservatives (including Paleocons) never hint at racial superiority, show distaste for certain ethnic groups, try to rewrite the history of Slavery, celebrate the Dark Ages as a time of placid farming and piety, and show eagerness to restrain Wall Street and Multinational Conglomerates.

"National Socialist Worker's Party. sounds an awful lot like a Democrat"

only if you're an ignorant idiot, or a conservative, but I repeat myself.

Germany had an actual socialist party in 1933, the SPD, Social Democratic Party

They were the only ones in the Reichstag who voted against Hitler taking over as Fuehrer.

The NSDAP was originally a fake movement/party promoted by conservatives to compete against the actual leftists, the hard-case communists (taking orders from Moscow) and the aforementioned SPD, which actually ran things in the 1920s for the most part, though they often had to coalition with the centrist catholic party.

The Nazi's vaguely leftist message won a lot of votes but they showed their true colors when the Roehm faction was purged a year after Hitler took power.

Germany's actual socialists ended up in SS concentration camps in the 1930s, or exile.

58   Bellingham Bill   2015 Aug 11, 6:09pm

KgK one says

Germany had inflation of 3200%. People had no food , houseing etc. He was technically greatest leader for turning around germany.

The hyperinflation of 1923 had little to do with Hitler taking power ten years later.

Remember, hyperinflation wipes out debts just as much as savings!

Where things really went off the rails for Weimar Germany was when the debt the US was extending to them dried up in the global crisis of 1929-33.

59   MisdemeanorRebel   2015 Aug 11, 6:27pm

Bellingham Bill says

The vaguely leftist message won a lot of votes but they showed their true colors when the Roehm faction was purged a year after Hitler took power.

...and then Hitler banned the Unions. May 2nd, 1933. Police occupy all Union HQs and arrest most of the Union leaders. Unions are prohibited from striking or collective bargaining, merged all the members of the old union into the "German Labor Front", which was a Patriotic Shill Group controlled by the Nazi Party that did nothing but organize hiking and track and picnic events, all celebrating the Fuhrer. It's motto was "Strength through Joy." Hitler's big industry supporters like Thyssen are elated.

60   HydroCabron   2015 Aug 11, 6:28pm

Bellingham Bill says

Germany had an actual socialist party in 1933, the SPD, Socialist Party of Deutschland.

It's really weird: the "socialist" part of the title was to make the labor unions believe the Nazis weren't a huge threat.

After the Reichstag was secured, the Nazis staged a special national worker appreciation day on May 1, 1933; on May 2nd, 1933 brownshirts seized property from labor union offices throughout Germany and shut down the entire Allgemeiner Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund - basically, an organization of labor unions.

What really brought on Hitler was a desire for a man who would not show weakness and accommodation to Germany's enemies, a characterization quite similar to modern conservative/libertarian rhetoric. If you were left wing and threatened to overthrow the government, you were shot and dumped in a river, like Rosa Luxembourg; if you were right wing and did same - even if you got people killed - you went to country-club prison for a time, like Hitler, but not before you were allowed to use your trial as a platform for advertising your cause, to an adoring reception from the audience and judges alike.

The pattern of indulging right-wing whackaloons during the Weimar years has been widely noted among historians. Even as the Nazis, with their formidable SA muscle, grew more and more powerful, the existing leadership treated them as another pawn in the multi-party intrigues, even though the other parties were not paramilitary. Oops.

Hitler and every despot before or after him rose to power while waving a flag and chanting our country is #1. Patriotism is the number one cause of dictatorships.

Much like religion, people who lust for power will use patriotism as a tool to gain power.

In truth, United States culture has a uniqueness to it when taken in a worldwide perspective. And part of that uniqueness is a belief in individual freedom and liberty including but not limited to independence, self determination, and rugged individualism. Personally I love it and would do anything to preserve our unique American culture including efforts to secure our nations border.
If I were you and hated the laws and country of a culture to a point where I wanted to entirely transform it, most likely I would just move to a place that had laws and culture that conform to those beliefs and ideals, rather than stew in utter hatred and contempt for the place that I live.

A person who actually cared about his family, neighbors, and countrymen would stay to change his country for the better. But clearly that doesn't apply to the people who wave flags and change we're number one.

That is why i keep saying Michelle Hucksterbee and her theocratic acolytes should relocate to Afghanistan. There are plenty of countries that claim their gods are in charge, and make their religions a source of constitutional law. There are very few, including this one, founded with no king and no official religion. Love it or leave it, I say.

No, you dumb ass. 70% of the people in America are good. It's the 30% who call themselves conservatives like you, CIC, and Strategist who are ruining the country for everyone else with your inbred stupidity, ignorance, malice, and bigotry. You don't represent America, as much as you like to think you do. You are a dying breed of backwards morons whose vile culture is finally dying, and that scares the shit out of you cowards which is why you lash out so much. It's the death rattle of ignorance.

Oh, and the utter hypocrisy of your words is amazing. 70% of America who is disgusted by your bigotry, selfishness, and stupidity, and you call that 70% thugs, criminals, liberals (as if liberal was a dirty word), socialists (as if that was a dirty word as well), takers, illegals, and various other insults. I suspect America will be a much happier, prosperous, and enlightened nation in another 50 years when all you assholes die off and aren't replaced. So I'm actually quite optimistic about the future.

Still waiting for an answer to this, by the way.

So many irrelevant comments. Can someone comment on the video, Its validity, historical accuracy etc.?

74   Bellingham Bill   2015 Aug 12, 8:54am

I'm not going to watch the video, but in being profoundly anti-democratic Hitler was elementally evil.

Democracy is a pretty low bar, if you can't get 50% of the electorate strongly on your side, you're a right prick to start with.

German social progress of the Weimar era was paralyzed by their divide between the Left and Right there.

Much needed to be reformed, but the conservatives were having none of it.

Hitlerism provided a way for the right to largely preserve itself against the communists and socialists who wanted more reform in Germany's economy and social order.

Germans -- left, right, center -- generally hated the Versailles "Diktat", but failed to appreciate that the alternative to that was the West -- mainly France -- coming into Germany in the 1920s and physically carting off the wealth they demanded in recompense for the destruction of so much of NE France, 1914-1918.

Like elections, wars have consequences. And WW I was no ordinary war!

Upon accession of power in 1933, the Nazis started creating their secret police state to keep them in power permanently. Evil, ja.

After rearming enough, it was time for war again in 1939. 1940 & 41 went reasonably well for the Nazis, but if they had come into the Soviet Union as liberators and not liquidators , '42 & '43 might have been a different story for them.

Hitler was no great military genius and his fuckups directing the Russian summer 1942 campaign sealed the Nazi state's fate, after the army's remaining offensive force was spattered into the foothills of the Caucasus (1st Panzer Army), and ground down in Stalingrad (6th Army which had been reinforced with the 2nd Panzer Army, and part of the 4th Panzer Army).

Halder, v Weichs, and Paulus were telling Hitler that the loooong Don flank wasn't strong enough, but Hitler thought he knew better.

After 1939, the Nazis intended to expunge the polish nation from the map, just like Iran hard-liners fantasize about taking out Israel.

Their plans went beyond fantasy, though.

Of course, picking on immigrants and other minorities (Jews in Germany for the Nazi case) is a typically fascist thing to do, to misdirect the public. #3 on this list:

http://www.rense.com/general37/char.htm

Fascism -- centralized force over wide consensus -- is inherently evil. It all comes down to failing to treat with others as you would want to be treated.

76   HydroCabron   2015 Aug 12, 9:00am

The whole Versailles thing was special pleading.

Germany was laboring under terms similar to those which it imposed on France after the war of 1870, and would have been eased off the hook completely by 1950 regardless. Not that it mattered: Hjalmar Schacht gamed the currency and debt infrastructure so hard in the 1930s that Germany was well on its way to being the powerhouse of Europe even without another war.

If Hitler had not gone to war, Germany would have owned Europe by 1945 through peaceful means.

I always thought that Russia and Afghanistan best resemble the conservative utopia. Of course, they'd have to replace Christianity with Islam, but Islam is the religion they agree with more anyway. Jesus was a god-damn socialist who would have opposed the Second Amendment. Jesus never carried a weapon.

86   MisdemeanorRebel   2015 Aug 12, 12:09pm

Russia isn't a conservative utopia because most Russians (except 1% of Moscow Liberals in the Intn'l Sense of the Term) believe in national health care, gun control, access to sex ed and birth control, and free education.

When the elderly babushka can't water her lawn anymore, no conservative passes and screams "Ma Property Values!" and call code enforcement, who promptly shows up with a $250 fine. Nor does anybody report her for taking in washing and hanging the clothes in the front yard of her cottage. And certainly not for growing tomatoes and turnips in her front yard, either - Russians would consider that nuts, something even Stalin or Beria wouldn't do.

Here's a great example from a Red State, a notice received within 24 hours of a fun family project of building a cardbox box castle wth their kids:
