It's just investors taking profits to move to the bay area.

VT is near Montreal; I'd never leave that for the SFBA.

Baltimore-area prices for all housing types drop for first time in 3 years

The region's housing market continued to lose steam in August as prices fell for a second straight month, this time in all three housing types: townhomes, condominiums and single-family homes.
It was the first time in three years that all three property segments saw a decline in prices, according to Rockville-based RealEstate Business Intelligence. The median sales price fell 2.8 percent compared to August 2013, falling to $252,000.

The price decline came as the number of homes on the market continued to increase, RBI said in its monthly report. There are 24 percent more homes on the market than at this time last year, although the supply level is at 69 percent of its peak.

Glen Ellyn, IL:

The median price of a house in Glen Ellyn in July was $425,000.

That’s a decrease from June’s median price of $485,750. (!!!!! -jb)

It's all Omalley's fault!!!
His 40 tax increases are driving taxpayers into neighboring states.

Wait, it costs $300k to live in the desert? For ~ $200k I could get a 2 bedroom apartment 2 blocks from the beach, and about a block or so from gourmet supermarkets, library, K-8, a dozen restaurants from Fast Food to Steak House to Russian Tea Room to Pizza Place, stores, gyms, kid's park, etc. Culture up the ass especially in the Winter and Fall when the snowbirds are in town. Free concerts left and right. The Walgreens is literally up the street and over half a block, 7 minute walk or less.

TWO international airports that fly almost anywhere in the world, each about 30-45 minutes from your front door. Low fares because they are population hubs.

Watch the boats sail down the Intercoastal from your window. A beach you don't need a wetsuit to swim in. Mount Sinai Hospital Clinic coming in the next year.

Why do people want to live in the desert and howl with the coyotes, deal with crazed sheriffs, drug smugglers, etc. where the main attraction is Monster Truck Racing and dying painfully of dehydration after you make the wrong turn on the trail - not to mention too many Evangelicals who think Chick Tracts rate with Xenophon's Anabasis for literature. Local hospitals full of the bottom 50% of medical students who couldn't get work in real cities like San Diego or New York or Chicago. Hope your car doesn't break down without a loaner because you can't walk to jack shit. Instead of an old Jewish neighborhood lined with Palm Trees and Luxury Penthouses by Trump with no crime to speak of.

Seeing as how the supermajority Democrat controlled state legislature is chasing private companies out of the state, it is no surprise that housing prices are declining in MD.
