We're in 1999 or 2007 basically....
I work in the high tech field and I am seeing a lot of parallels between now and the dot com craze of the 1990s. I would not call the recent situation quite as crazy as dot com. In that timeframe, companies with absolutely no business models and no earnings were commanding high valuations.
In this timeframe, companies do have business models and earnings, but they are massively overvalued in many cases. Take a look at many of the IPOs of late. Pandora, Zynga, Groupon, etc. Most flatlined shortly after taking flight. You do have some like Facebook and LinkedIn that seem to be weathering the storm better. But I would also question their P/Es as well.
