If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. Looks like Texas has it's own version of our 3 strikes and your out. I'm glad she's white, or some people would be screaming injustice and inequality.

I as a tax payer see this as a wise investment of my tax dollars.

Justice is a beautiful thing.

Five months later she was arrested for stealing weed killer and a power washer.

She got 70 years for 3 strikes you're out.

You can't have these animals just stealing things people worked their asses off to buy. If she's unhappy with the economy, then vote a Democrat out of office, and quit voting the bastards in office.

Should have laundered drugs for the Mexican cartels instead. Guilty of not thinking big and not being in the ruling class.

She should be tied to a tree the back yard of the homeowner who she stole the Christmas lights, next the bouncy house during the kids next birthday party. And made to watch all those happy people eating their cake and playing pin the tail on the Grinch.

Is there some reason why this thread is not in the Crime section?

Woman sentenced to 70 years in jail for theft of power tools

Yet another example of why 3-strikes-your-out laws are Unconstitutional and Unamerican. Our laws should not be based on baseball. That's just plain retarded.

Yes, theft should be punished. But 70 years for theft of power tools is cruel, inhuman, and ridiculous.

Meanwhile, bankers and financial professionals steal or destroy hundreds of billions of dollars a year through white collar crime and not a single one spends even a night in jail.

Our criminal system is like the one in Les Misérables that persecuted Jean Valjean.

Should be in politics section since this is a human rights issue.

The length of the sentence isn't because of the power tools; it's because of her previous crimes. And I don't think the Christmas lights have anything to do with it; that's just media sensationalism. However, 70 years seems pretty ridiculous, even with her rap sheet.

Which is exactly why it is unjust, Unconstitutional, and Unamerican. She already paid for her previous crimes. To tack on 70 years, an effective life sentence, for crimes for which she already served her time is to try her a second times for those crimes and to sentence her twice for them, with the second sentencing being absurd.
