A report by the Office of the Inspector General of the Bureau of International Information Programs discovered that the U.S. State Department spent $630,000 to buy 'likes' on its page between 2011 and March of 2013. This is a move that Facebook discourages and even punishes users for. So is this money well spent when it comes to digital diplomacy? RT Correspondent Meghan Lopez Reports.

1. This is why the sequester is needed. Half a million dollars of taxpayer money spent on fraudulent Facebook likes. The State Dept's budget needs to be cut by 90% including firing anyone who worked on this Facebook fraud.

2. The fraud has backfired as now everyone knows that the State Dept's likes are bullshit and it looks desperate and sad.

3. It takes away all creditability -- if there ever was any -- in Facebook likes.

Once again, RT News and independent bloggers cover a story ignored by the mass media.

I wonder how much they spend to flame posts on CNN that go against the Liberal grain? FOX had to close down their comment section for their news articles because it got so bad.
