Sumter, S.C. -- A 3-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed himself after finding a gun in an apartment about 10 a.m. Tuesday

Toms River, N.J. -- A 4-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed a 6-year-old neighbor. The younger boy found the gun, a .22 caliber rifle, in his house and brought it out to his neighbor’s yard where it somehow discharged, striking the older boy in the head about 7 p.m. Monday.

Brownwood, Tex. -- As someone cleaned a semi-automatic handgun in a house about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, the weapon accidentally discharged sending a bullet through a wall where it struck and killed a 4-year-old girl in another room.

Winchester, Tenn. -- A man accidentally shot and killed himself while cleaning a gun Sunday night.

Kissimmee, Fla. -- When a woman went to pay for gas at a service station, her 25-rear-old brother accidentally shot and killed her 20-year-old boyfriend as the two men were handling a handgun while waiting in the woman’s car on Monday.

White Lake Township, Mich. -- A 32-year-old woman is dead after she was shot several times by her husband who then used the gun to kill himself about 9 p.m. Monday. The woman’s 8-year-old son was in the house at the time and he ran to neighbors who then called police. The child was turned over to his biological father.

Nashville, Tenn. -- A 33-year-old man was shot and killed about 4:15 p.m. yesterday.

Oakland, Calif.-- A man was shot by one of two suspects about 8:10 p.m. Monday. Both suspects fled. The victim was listed in stable condition.

Oakland, Calif.-- A man was shot by another man who fled on foot about 12:05 a.m. yesterday. The victim was listed in stable condition.

Kansas City, Mo. -- A 28-year-old man was shot to death about 4:30 a.m. today in an apparent home invasion. Police said several intruders broke into the home and shot the man in his living room. The man’s girlfriend and four children who were at home at the time were not hurt.

Wilkinsburg, Penn. -- A woman was found fatally shot on a street about 2:45 a.m. today. She was struck in the head.

Bellwood, Ill. -- A 27-year-old man shot in the abdomen Monday was pronounced dead about 5 p.m.

Harris County, Tex. -- About 8:30 p.m. Monday, an 83-year-old man was found sitting on a chair in his living room and bleeding from a fatal gunshot wound. His pick-up truck was missing. A 19-year-old man has been arrested.

Carroll County, Tenn. -- A 22-year-old woman was shot in the stomach by her 2-year-old son. Police say the woman was sleeping with the boy and a 3-week-old baby on Sunday when the boy apparently found a Glock 9 mm handgun underneath a pillow and managed to fire it. The victim was listed in serious but stable condition.

Twinsburg Township, Ohio -- A 16-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the chest while cleaning a gun about 7:40 p.m. Saturday. He was expected to survive.

Akron, Ohio -- A 20-year-old woman -- a passenger in a car driven by a 23-year old man -- was shot in the shoulder blade after a road-rage incident led to gunfire about 3 p.m. Saturday. The incident began when the driver of another car became angry and, at some point, both cars pulled over. In the course of a verbal dispute, the driver of the other car pulled out a gun and fired four shots at the man’s car and one of the bullets struck the woman. The shooter then left the scene. No word on the condition of the woman.

Chicago, Ill. -- About 8:15 p.m. Monday, a 33-year-old man was found lying on a sidewalk with gunshot wounds to his face, neck, chest, and arms. He was listed in critical condition.

Chicago, Ill. -- Two men, ages 20 and 19, were shot and wounded while on a street about 6 p.m. Monday. The 20-year-old was shot multiple times; the 19-year-old was shot once. Both were listed as stabilized at a local hospital.

Jacksonville, Fla. -- A 19-year-old man was shot in the stomach inside a home about 3:45 p.m. Monday. He was expected to recover.

Greeneville, Tenn. -- A 25-year-old man accidentally shot himself through the hand Monday afternoon while cleaning a .22 caliber rifle on his back porch.

Fort Wayne, Ind. -- A man accidentally shot himself in the wrist and leg when his newly purchased 9 mm handgun discharged as he was handling it about 8 p.m. Monday.

El Dorado, Kan. --A private security officer accidentally fired his gun while on duty in an apartment complex about 10:30 p.m. Monday and the bullet went through a wall and struck an 18-year-old college student. The student’s injury was considered minor.

Macon, Ga. -- Three people were wounded when gunfire erupted at a home about 8 p.m. yesterday.

Memphis, Tenn. -- A 31-year-old man was standing outside his car about 11:30 p.m. yesterday when two men approached and stole his money before shooting him three times. His injuries were considered life-threatening.

Atlanta, Ga. -- A 16-year-old student was arrested after bringing a loaded .22 caliber handgun to school last Friday. A school resource officer found the student in the restroom holding the weapon.

Moody, Ala. -- During a youth baseball game between teams with seven and eight-year-old players, the father of one player pulled handgun on a coach during a game after the father was told by the coach to sit down in the bleachers. The father was arrested and his pistol permit was being revoked.

This daily carnage will never end unless we take a stand. And if ever there was a day to take a stand, it’s today. That’s because the U. S. Senate is taking up the gun-control issue this week. If we miss this opportunity, another one might never again come along. And the carnage will go on and on and on.

So Washington needs to hear from us -- today. If we don’t speak out, they will only hear the voices of the N.R.A.

Lebanon, Tenn. -- The 48-year-old wife of a sheriff’s deputy was shot to death Saturday in their home by a 3-year-old relative who gained access to a gun during a family cookout. The deputy was off-duty and looking at guns in a bedroom with a relative when the woman and the 3-year-old walked in. The child picked up a loaded gun on the bed and the weapon discharged, striking the woman.

Chicago, Ill. -- A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot in the chest while on a street about 4:30 p.m. yesterday. Police were calling it a possible drive-by shooting. Three people were taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Akron, Ohio -- An employee of a fast-food restaurant, a 28-year-old man, was fatally shot at work while taking out the trash about 11 p.m. Saturday. He was struck several times.

Albuquerque, N.M. -- A man was fatally shot and another man was shot and wounded during a fight at a nightclub about 2 a.m. yesterday. The wounded man was listed in stable condition.

Little Rock, Ark. -- A man was found fatally shot about 10:30 p.m. yesterday. He was struck multiple times.

Long Beach, Calif. -- One man was shot dead and several others were shot and wounded when gunfire broke out just after midnight yesterday. No word on the condition of the wounded.

Los Angeles, Calif. -- A 39-year-old man was found shot to death near his apartment building about 2 a.m. yesterday.

Milwaukee, Wis. --Two people were shot and killed about 9 a.m. today.

Manhattan, Kan. -- One person was shot dead and three people were shot and wounded at an apartment complex about 4:10 a.m. yesterday. Police have someone in custody.

Searcy, Ark. -- A 27-year-old man later died after showing up at a hospital about 2:30 p.m. yesterday with a gunshot wound.

Harris County, Tex. -- A 21-year-old man was shot and killed outside his home about 11:45 p.m. yesterday. He was shot more than once and died lying on the floor of his garage. Witnesses said a vehicle stopped in front of the home, then a driver wearing a mask got out and walked toward the victim while shooting.

Houston, Tex. -- A 31-year-old woman was fatally shot at a home by her boyfriend about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Police are looking for him.

Marietta, Ga. -- A 34-year-old man was fatally shot while in a bar around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Baltimore, Md. -- A man was fatally shot after getting into an argument with an unidentified person around 2 a.m. today.

Chicago, Ill. -- Two 17-year-old boys were shot and wounded as they walked down a sidewalk about 12:30 a.m. today. One of the victims was struck in the chin. He was listed in serious condition at a local hospital. The other boy was struck in the ankle. He was listed in good condition.

Tulsa, Okla. -- A 30-year-old man was found in a roadway fatally shot about 10:30 p.m. yesterday. Police believed his body was dumped at the scene from a moving vehicle.

Wickliffe, Ohio -- A 56-year-old man was shot twice in the head about 11:25 a.m. Saturday at his home. After a brief stand-off, police arrested a 53-year-old man who lived with the victim. The victim was listed in stable critical condition.

Channelview, Tex. -- About 1:30 a.m. Saturday, someone was shot twice in the leg at a home after a fight started during a teenage party. The victim was listed in stable condition.

Milwaukee, Wis. -- A 32-year-old man was shot in the hip about 1:30 p.m. yesterday. The incident might have been connected to a robbery. The victim was listed in stable condition.

Nashville, Tenn. -- A 16-year-old boy was shot in the torso by a 22-year-old man at an apartment complex about 10:30 p.m. yesterday. The two had been fighting on and off throughout the day. The victim was reported to have serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Nashville, Tenn. -- A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg while walking home from a store Sunday night.

Nashville, Tenn. -- A 16-year-old boy was shot in the thigh while on a street about 5:30 p.m. yesterday.

San Francisco, Calif. -- Someone was shot at a donut shop about 3 a.m. today.

Richmond, Calif. -- A 33-year-old man was shot three times outside his grandmother's home about 1:30 p.m. yesterday. He was listed in critical condition but expected to survive.

Richmond, Calif. -- Three persons were shot and wounded outside a liquor store about 6 p.m. Saturday. One of the victims was listed in critical but stable condition. No word on the condition of the other two victims.

New Orleans, La. -- A man was shot while on a street about 9:30 a.m. today. No word on his condition.

Charlotte, N.C. -- A man was shot during a robbery about 6 p.m. yesterday. The victim’s injuries were considered non life-threatening.
