What is Romney's position on the 2nd amendment? What has Obama done to restrict or enhance gun rights?

http://foxnewsinsider.com/2012/10/09/paul-ryan-ends-interview-abruptly-after-reporter-asks-strange-question-on-gun-violence/

Ryan: " If you take a look at the gun laws we have, I don’t think President Obama is even proposing more gun laws … we need to enforce our laws; we have lots of laws that aren’t being properly enforced.”

Yet, http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/10/08/nra-launches-new-anti-obama-ad-campaign-in-battleground-states/

"The NRA ad suggests Obama is "attacking our Second Amendment rights" and says a vote against the Democrat would help "defend freedom."

The group has endorsed Republican Mitt Romney, even though Romney signed a ban on assault weapons as Massachusetts governor.

Obama hasn't pushed gun control measures as president and has signed laws letting people carry concealed weapons in national parks and in checked bags on Amtrak trains.

Obama has made guns more accessible, and Romney in the past has made them less so.

So, the NRA is really just a front group for the GOP I reckon.

2   HEY YOU   2012 Oct 10, 1:41pm

Here I go.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

How many dumbasses do not understand,"shall not be infringed."
One receives a handgun as a gift.To carry that handgun (concealed),one needs a piece of paper(permit)? You have just been Infringed?
To buy any firearm how much personal info is one required to surrender? Infringed again?
Since the 2nd amendment is so long,I need help listing all the restrictions the Founding Fathers placed in the 2nd Amendment. STOP!there are no restrictions listed.

Everyone that has a carry permit has agreed to surrender their right to bear that firearm without infringement. No paper-No Right. Where are the cowards of the NRA? Forget it, they are cowering down & checking their permits.

Go ahead & argue "Militia" & "people.
BTW,I not a 2nd Amendment radical & too old to give a Damn but I do enjoy Hypocrisy.

Hey You - well stated. A "permit" doesn't mean you get to do something (build a room addition, start a business, carry a handgun). It means you can't do it...without some idiots approval - and the appropriate governmnet "fees", of course.

HEY YOU, the amendment just says "arms" generic. I think it actually refers to vials of anthrax. You can conceal carry those. Everyone should!

Point: the amendment is specifically vague, so that the type of arms can be interpreted and selected for what is appropriate. Additional point: since the amendment is so short, as you point out, how can you choose to ignore the opening of it? If you are going to take a slightly "originalist" stance on the interpretation, you cannot just throw out the fact that the US had no standing army, and the main arm we are talking about in that day is a percussion cap fired musket.

I fully support all Americans rights to conceal carry, and open carry, an arm from that time ... and you know what ... I can turn a blind eye to original intent and go without the national defense intent as well. Sure, carry that and have fun believing you are ready to stop the terrorists, kill zee bad guyz, and defend yourself.

However, if you want to own something more fancy, training, education, and licensing should be required. I'm not for hardline restriction of firearms. I'm just for people walking out of stores with their first bought firearm actually knowing what the hell they have, and are doing.

If we are really going to pretend that that is ok, then start handing out mortars, grenades, and missiles over the counter too. As today, please just demonstrate you can load and point it in a safe direction first. (f*ing ridiculous.)

How many dumbasses do not understand "well regulated militia". Sounds like the founders supported gun control.

HEY YOU says

How many dumbasses do not understand,"shall not be infringed."

So, that would mean as an avid gun rights person, you must support Obama and deride Romney on this issue, eh?

And anyone who cares about gun rights should too.

Homeboy says

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

The legal definition of keep is to own.
The legal definition of bear is to have on ones person.

Nobody ever says "I bear a heavy weight; the load is sitting in the National Guard Armory." Also, the National Guard is not the Militia, as decided by SCOTUS - ironically over a National Guard deployment to Central America to assist Right Wing thugs in the 80s.
