Lets see, the opposite of Fair and Balanced, laced with liberal bias, Al Sharpton, NBC staffer finally terminated, staffer's ethnicity not revealed, content of staffer's character appears racist, racebaiting news network.

Gee, I'd love to be a liberal but I don't want to stick my head up my butt like you people, bury my whole body in the sand, and pray (oxymoron) for eutopia, while creating imaginary catagories of crime that can only occur in one's head (thoughtcrime). I don't endorse the theft of material possessions and basic human rights from the people, under the guise of "helping" them.

I'm not able to function as a schizophrenic, double standard loving, freedom hating, controlling, manipulative, lying, elitist, pompous, self-rightous jerk who lives in a constant state of denial. Other than that I'd love to be a left leaning, progressive, socialistic, commie liberal.

Get up on the wrong side of the bed Abe ?

Here we are in a time with taxes the lowest thev've been in 50 years, with out of control debt, and every republican congress person signs a pledge not to raise taxes.

Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon would be called Rinos now for their policies and would be unelectable..

Meanwhile Pat.net's king of the dimbulbs is having an emotional spasm about how messed up "liberals" are. I guess it's all the "racebaiting" that gets Abe so in touch with his feelings.

Project much ? Speaking of truth (that Abe will quickly ignore, if he comprehends it that is).

Nomograph says

What's sad it that his post proves that NBC is not intentionally slanted; they investigated the problem and fired the person who edited the tape. On Fox that person would receive a raise, bonus, and promotion.

6   Honest Abe   2012 Apr 8, 3:25am

NBC NOT intentionally slanted???? RIIIIGHT, hahaha.
Anyway, if thats true, why did NBC terminate the dude who maipulated the truth?

And talk about projection: "On Fox, that person would recieve a raisem bonus and promotion". You libs live in a constant state of denial...

Alan Sharpton just like Jessie Jackson are two racist bigots trying to gain from the situation. And their bigoted attitude is destroying the factual argument.

And many are forgetting here that a young man has been killed and the tragedy it is for the parents of this young man. News are slanted on both sides taking away any credibility.

I know you are unaware of this Abe, but there are multiple highly successful comedy shows that are devoted almost entirely to how full of shit Fox is.

HOw does it feel to be so gullible and the victim of the largest propaganda operation in the history of mankind ?

13   FortWayne   2012 Apr 8, 3:43am

Abe isn't wrong about these "black religious leaders".

Every year these people scream that a man is pressing the blacks down, just so they can keep themselves elevated by the poor ignorant blacks who fall for that kind of racist garbage.

Liberal bullcrap that allows us as people to be divided every year more and more as usual.

14   Honest Abe   2012 Apr 8, 4:07am

Marcus, why aren't these same multiple comedy shows equally devoted to showing how full of sh*t the main street media is? Could it be they are all equally slanted to the left and equally liberal???

Ft Wayne- thanks for your acknowledgement about shake down artists masquerading as "religious leaders".

BTW, the much more powerful engine overpowered the current suspension and the car was all over the track to the point of being unsafe. We're going to replace the 3/4 inch anti sway bar with a 1" anti roll bar, install stiffer rear springs - or coil-overs (we torched the existing rear springs to lower the rear end - I know, I know), install a 1 1/8' front sway bar and realign the car. Then we'll go back at it again!

Because they don't constantly lie and make stuff up.

As Nomo said, the one time when they do pull a slightly Fox like move, they apologize and fire the guy that did it.

17   marcus   2012 Apr 8, 4:33am

BElieve me, if the mian stream media was anything close to as dishonest as FOx, then Fox would have a comedy show devote to exposing the main stream media BS.

It's depressing to think that you might be a real person and that you really are the way you sound.

18   Honest Abe   2012 Apr 8, 5:38am

They DON'T lie, spin and make up stuff? Uh, that was the main topic.

BTW - WHERE IS THE FALSE, MADE UP REPORT BY FOX, ON THE TRAYVON MARTIN ISSUE ?????????????????????????

Whats depressing to me is that there are people just like you in positions of political power.

19   marcus   2012 Apr 8, 6:32am

Honest Abe says

I didn't say that EVERY SINGLE THING you hear from Fox is made up or false.

And I understand in all of history you can come up with literally a few examples, like that one time with Dan rather. Or this misleading video from NBC.

But I could come up with a thousand examples from Fox from the last couple years alone, easily.

And you say I'm in denial ?

20   Tenpoundbass   2012 Apr 8, 6:48am

Fox is the news actually reporting the news. At least they present all of the stories. Sure the reporter might have his own spin, but aren't we supposed to be smart enough to take away our view from the facts that are provided?

The Liberal news outlets ration the news and only present stories that buttress their position. I've been following CNN for 4 years now, giving my self mental wedgies. CNN.com comments are 80% people calling CNN out on their crap. The other 20% are the people refilling their Cool Aid cups.

Fox at least tells the story, and leave it up to the Idiot left and right to call each other names in their comments, But at least the story was put out there. And they are the only ones telling the story.

And that is today's WORD.

21   mdovell   2012 Apr 8, 8:35am

For the most part television is not for news...it is for entertainment.

News reporting has been dumbed down to the point where most affiliates are on a 6th grade reading level.

Fox uses flashy bright graphics and cleavage to get attention. Major network affiliates have been doing this for nearly 20 years.

No one really goes to television as a main source of news. Unless it is significant breaking news for the most part they report everything that was on the internet four days ago.

News anchors actually read off content from websites! Why need a middleman? There's no international anchors these days either. Middle east reporting is reported out of London!

So much of the media news reports over and over again... If you watch more than say one hour of news a day you are really wasting your time.

If you want to get better reporting I'd recommend podcasts of most country channels/stations. VOA, CBC, Radio Netherlands, BBC, Deutche Welle, Voice of Russia, Radio Japan, CRI etc. The news doesn't repeat..ever. No commercials, no flashy graphics etc.

22   Honest Abe   2012 Apr 8, 8:48am

CaptainShutUp - I think you summed it up pretty well. As far as I'm concerned, case closed.

Sure if I want to know about the atrocities committed in the Congo. When has the BBC ever reported the atrocities committed by the Obama regime, or the Bush regime for that matter? Like Never!

I hear that Al Jazeeera really comes in fair and balanced. Just ask Soros.

25   socal2   2012 Apr 13, 6:12am

Can any of the Fox bashers point to a single example of "Fox Lies" that are as massive and egregious as the Dan Rather memos and NBC edits?

- CBS and Dan Rather tried to throw the 2004 election with obvious forgeries. To this day Dan Rather still thinks they are legit.

- NBC is trying to incite race riots with doctored 911 tapes that might very well get people killed. Yeah they claimed they fired someone, but won't tell us who it is.

Both of these examples are worse than Watergate when you think of the national implications.

BTW - FOX is no more conservative than the rest (MSBNC, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, NYTimes, LATimes, Washington Post, NPR) are liberal. Fox is a lone voice in the suffocating PC Liberal monopoly in the media. That is why Fox is so dominant in ratings (no other Conservative competition) and also why they are hated by the rest of the group-think sheep.

Just go to foxnewslies.net. Plenty of good stuff there. This one is pretty impressive:

According to FOX News, 8.6 is both equal to 9.0, and more than 8.8.

The numbers are right. The problem is that the numbers show that the unemployment rate was at a 52-week low. So the dots had to be moved a bit to make the graphic show stagnation. That's fair, right? And that last segment of the graph is level. They're just moving things by .4% to make 8.6 "balanced" with 9.0.

When something like this happens on NBC, it's man bites dog, and man gets fired. On Fox, it's dog bites man.

msilenus says

That's the best you got?

Besides, our own Labor Department is much more dishonest when it comes to reporting current unemployment rate when they discount all those millions who stopped looking for work.

Also, don't even get me started on Media polling where they always oversample Democrats to make headlines.

http://hotair.com/archives/2012/04/10/wapoabc-poll-adds-seven-points-to-dem-advantage-in-sample/

28   Honest Abe   2012 Apr 13, 6:49am

I wonder how high the unemployment rate would spike if all the unnecessary empire building wars were ended, and of the unnecessary military bases around the world were closed and the troops were brought home and discharged ???

Are you referring to that graphic, or the vast repository of bullshit and lies I plucked it off of? Either way, you asked for a single example. You're welcome.

Can't access your link at work.

Your example seems like weak sauce and figured you were going to post an example as egregious as the CBS forged memos trying to throw the 2004 Presidential elections and NBC editing 911 tapes to falsely portray Zimmerman as a racist.

31   msilenus   2012 Apr 13, 7:08am

socal2 says

Your example seems like weak sauce...

It "seems" that way to you because you're invested in them.

The CBS memos --which were not forged by CBS, they were duped-- are a rather different sort of controversy. They inadequately verified some documents, and ran with them. I'm not saying the graphic above is better or worse --it's just hard to directly compare.

However, the graphic above is exactly as egregious as the NBC edit. Both were cases where simple facts were blatantly misrepresented. It is exactly as true that unemployment was level from Oct to Nov as it is that Zimmerman referred to Martin's race on the 911 calls. You can't honestly get a transcript to read in a materially different way, any more than you can honestly get a computer to draw a graph like the one I posted.

The only material difference is the response. People were surprised about this coming from NBC. NBC was surprised about it coming from NBC. NBC launched an investigation and fired the man responsible. (CBS also launched an investigation, and changed their policies.)

When this comes from Fox, we just yawn and toss it on the pile over at foxnewslies.com.

I should let this go, but can't. It's simply untrue. Fox screws up facts more often than most news organizations, but they do usually get facts correct. They do, however, have a very consistent bias to their stories. I can tell you exactly what to look for. It's even a number.

X: How many paragraphs into a story do you get before the lede narrative breaks, and you start seeing nuance, a second perspective, or a comment from the opposing side.

Fox pieces on partisan issues are almost invariably characterized by several paragraphs of narrative. This encourages the reader to make up their mind about an issue before any counterbalancing information is given.

For any partisan issue, you'll tend to see X(Fox) >= X(MSM)+2.

Compare and contrast:
X=3.
http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-obama-taxes-20120414,0,1801682.story

X=6.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/04/13/president-obama-paid-lower-tax-rate-than-his-secretary/

Note that one could present this issue to be much more to the left than the LA times did. It could be "Obama has a 50% higher marginal tax rate than Romney," for example.

I don't avoid reading Fox pieces. Their news stories usually do cover the important facts, in my experience. They just try to hold out on them until you're feeling a little angry at liberals. Go into their pieces expecting that, and adopt a sufficiently skeptical mindset, and you can actually get some pretty good information. Their reporters do sometimes turn up information that others don't.

But the way they present information simply isn't ethical journalism. It's akin to well poisoning.

33   Honest Abe   2012 Apr 14, 11:51pm

Miselanous - you did a great job of dissecting and anajyzing Fox News.

Please be so kind and do the same thing for any other "mainstream media" organization.

This is what objective reporting looks like. NPR talking about "stand your ground."

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=150638801

Dimbulbs will be quick to dismiss it, so here is a quote.

This is the third and fourth paragraph:

Martin's shooting has unleashed a nationwide debate on the validity of these laws, which exist in some form in most of the country and which prosecutors and police have generally opposed as confusing, prone to abuse by criminals, and difficult to apply evenly. Others are concerned that the laws foster a vigilante, even trigger-happy mentality that might cause too many unnecessary deaths.

An Associated Press review of federal homicide data doesn't seem to bear that out. Nationwide, the total number of justified homicides by citizens rose from 176 in 2000 to 325 in 2010. Totals for all homicides also rose slightly over the same period, but when adjusted for population growth, the rates actually dipped.

My quick opinion: some states such as Florida have bad versions of this law that protect the shooter too much in too many situations.

But my point was note how quick this writer is to look at the other side.

As far as I can tell, the only reason so many "conservatives" (and I use the term loosely) dislike NPR and PBS has to do with the well known liberal bias of reality.

Strange when back in Nov a young single mom killed an intruder ... not one word regarding disposing of such laws was made. "Stand your ground" made a lot of sense.

Classic logic skills of of typical "conservative" (and I use the term loosely again - because I'm a real conservative).

He can boil the most nuanced complex discussion down to a black and white binary choice.

Of course he doesn't read about it or do any critical thinking, because he already knows everything.

I'd bet anything he didn't even get to the second paragraph of the quote, which was my point. D'oh !!

38   Bap33   2012 Apr 15, 7:08am

so many words to say nothing normally means that the point you disagree with is correct and has frustrated your position.

39   marcus   2012 Apr 15, 9:08am

Don't read the NPR quote or mine (both paragraphs), or the NPR article, but comment anyway Bap, using only you emotions.

Hey, what else is there ?

40   Bap33   2012 Apr 15, 9:37am

dude, my comment was not emotional, it just is fact that your post right before mine was without any counter point. It was "neener neeener" type stuff, but no counter point. That is not you common way, in my opinion, but that is what went on.

No worries. Nice day huh?

41   Temp123   2012 Apr 16, 12:08am

It's not "strange" that there was no outcry when a person defended herself legitimately against an intruder. In the Martin case a young man was shot dead in the street under uncertain circumstances with no acccounting being made by the authorities. That's the reason people are outraged.

It's also the kind of story that the news media loves. "THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOUR KID, TOO!" is what the implication is.
