I don't get it. Let companies that skirt rules because of CV argue that in court or whatever, but why declare open season on pollution ?

This makes no sense. Is it that the powers that be actually want and need a democrat to take over the Presidency in 2021 ?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a sweeping suspension of its enforcement of environmental laws Thursday, telling companies they would not need to meet environmental standards during the coronavirus outbreak.

The temporary policy, for which the EPA has set no end date, would allow any number of industries to skirt environmental laws, with the agency saying it will not “seek penalties for noncompliance with routine monitoring and reporting obligations.”

I imagine there's countless regulations that are particularly difficult to adhere to when you have a workforce that is:

- reduced in numbers
- must social distance
- working remote
- has supply chain issues

Reducing regulations clearly increases flexibility. Regulations generally require extra time, effort, materials, and money to adhere to. Allowing companies to save money and operate more efficiently (and in some cases, to just plain continue to operate) is good for the economy, and society.

If a company could start making critical products, but doesn't have some obscure required thing needed to meet regulations, that would be to detriment of society.

I just hope businesses have a conscience, and act responsibly. I sure don't want them dumping bright green glowing nuclear sludge in the river. This has a lot of potential to do a lot of good, but I'm sure it will also get abused.
