Some people scoff at personal stories but FWIW I bought a DR Horton home in April and a few weeks ago it was taken over by Bank of America and today I opened a letter stating Fannie Mae bought it. Very, very odd and disturbing to me that I'm buying my own house from my government.

We're all buying our homes from the government even after all loans are paid off. Well, renting them.

(Yeah, I know this isn't the point, but...)

I'd like to have a perfectly free market with hundreds of eager loan providers, but unfortunately they all blew themselves up last decade, Mr Van Winkle.
