Look at Middle Eastern History. All of the extreme whackiness came about when the Shah was removed. Before then, there was some fighting over turf. Other than Lebanon, no massive civil wars.

An explosion of hijackings, terror bombings, etc. happened after he was removed.

It came in with the creation of Israel in 1948, and overthrow of Iran in the 1953 coup d'etat in Operation Ajax.

Religion in a political tool. Once it was realized that foreign occupier could be removed using religion, it was copied everywhere.

We refuse to learn from this mistake, so we keep repeating it. Iran, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan. Just leave them the fuck alone, and the problem goes away. Will there be violence? Yes of course, there's been violence for 70 years, and we only exacerbate it, we never make it better. Is Iraq better or worse off? Afghanistan? Israel? Anyplace where the US has put their nose in?

You want to blame religion, and yes, that's part of it but see the bigger picture. Religion is a reaction to Western interference in the region. The more desperate you make people, the more religious they become, that's well known. That's why religion has been fading out in the West, people aren't as desperate or as unhappy as they once were. You can lament that it would be better if people were more religious, but you ignore why people become religious.

Japan and South Korea are prosperous and wealthy, and basically both atheist societies. They are stable, low crime, highly ordered.

The Munich massacre happened in 1972. The Shah wasn't removed from power until 1979. The Nakba happened in 1948. 750,000 people were displaced in a matter of a few years. Do you seriously ask "why do they hate us?" It's obvious why they hate us, or at least our government.

Yeah, the Iranians and Israelis didn't see eye to eye on everything. He said a little too much influence, not they run the whole thing.

Which country gave the Ayatollah a safe haven and allowed him to mass produce tapes and propaganda?

He was a CIA creation. Remember it next time you see some deranged Soviet ragging on the CIA.
