My grandmother is 93, still fairly competent and independent, but refuses to give up her driver’s license or keys - her eyesight is not great, and her reaction times are terrible. In addition, she’s afraid of driving on the freeway, and easily confused sometimes, especially by “new concepts” which is anything newer than about 20 years old. I don’t think she belongs behind the wheel of a car anymore. I’m sure it’s a huge liability for her to continue driving, and I’m worried she’ll hurt someone.

Her license is up for renewal next month and I’m hoping there is some way I can call the DMV and have them refuse to renew her. I’ve looked up laws in my state though (New Mexico) and it doesn’t seem like an option.

My mother and aunt refuse to take her keys, knowing that a huge fight will ensue. I’m not sure what else to do, but I really want to keep her from getting on the road anymore. She doesn’t drive often, but about twice a week. Myself and other family are often available to take her shopping or to appointments, so she would still be able to get out and about.

Any advice?

An edit to add: she does not have a primary care doctor or a general practitioner. The closest thing would be her anti-vaxxer acupuncturist, who she refers to as her doctor. She does not believe in modern medicine, and refuses to see an actual medical doctor. She is also not a logical person at all, and all my attempts to reason with her, or show her potential consequences, have fallen on angry deaf ears.

Lol that kid is complaining that their gammy only listens to an anti vaxxer and has no "real" doc instead of taking a page from gammys cookbook and do away with lamestream propaganda. Long love gammy!

Get her a Volvo and a lot of insurance for the next crash.

My father drove until age 93 and only stopped when I moved in with him and became his chauffeur, cook, accountant, step and fetchit, etc.

Negotiating the Rockefeller profit engine medicine is a real mine field of choices. A system that regards you as profit meat and expensive medicine consumer to be escorted at cost to a variety of iatrogenic dooms isn't exactly a sanguine development for civilization.

The New Yorker had many articles and several books written by Harvard MD Jerome Groopman about his own struggles negotiating choice of doctors and trying to figure out how to screen them for his own health and orthopedic problems. In spite of being an 'insider', it was still a problem and he had many unflattering portraits of supposedly prominent (but un-named) doctors.

It also seems there is a 'euthanasia sympathetic' trend in the MSM and film industries aka anybody older than sixty is likely senile. cripped and is a step away from a nursing home, rather than capable of health and attuned living. Of course, we see all of the Globalist oligarchs with their organ transplants and black market medical solutions trying to live forever while disposing of the rest of the annoying populace crowding 'their' resources.
