I have to say that I really loved this house. EVERYTHING in it was original. Apparently it is owned by an older woman who is now selling. I mean the CARPET to the stove to the cabinets. All original. So much better than stinky, dark and recently redone 1637 Higgins Way. I loved the floor plan. Nice sized bedrooms upstairs. A play room and laundry room downstairs. Unfinished downstairs room that has some potential. The deck on the back appeared to be rotting and would likely need to be replaced soon if not immediately.

The thing is that I won't buy in this bubble and I would never buy it for that price. It faces a busy street and that was not ideal. Best of the three houses we looked at this weekend.

I know most people would gut/remodel, but this house is almost perfectly preserved as a time capsule of the late '60s. Great bones and nice architecture for the period it was built. With a few careful updates, this house could be less 'Brady Bunch' and more 'Mad Men', though that split level ranch thing always weirded me out: walk in the front door and immediately have to use stairs.

I know. I don't love the split level either. I have gotten used to it having been living in Pacifica for a while. I love the time capsule feel. My parents were antique dealers, so there is something very homey to me about this place. I honestly wouldn't gut all of it right away.

689K seemed a little insane to me given the busy street and the things that would need to be done sooner rather than later.

Looks like my dream home is pending. That is the first house that I have seen and *really* wanted.

There will be others. Think less like "dream home" and more like "ideal house"--then you'll see more options. #1 rule of Fight Club is there are no emotions allowed when purchasing a home.

bg I actually don't mind that street, its not as busy as you'd think.

Its not a bad house I must admit. I have a friend that lives in this model home up the road, given the split level they feel very "roomy"

To me, many of the split level houses feel cramped. I thought the bedrooms felt big enough and the split didn't have that creepy, steep, narrow stairwell.

You're kidding. You folks are brainwashed, forced to worship shit.
