In all of these discussion of who is to blame for the high cost of Health Care a budget deal on the fiscal cliff is moving through Congress. A big entitlement is MediCare, another, to a lesser degree, is MedicAid.
The big question is if we should all have access to the same government managed care that is already in place for the elderly, and the very poor. If more people participated in the system, if more people paid into the system, then that would add available funds for broader care.
Private Insurance would still be available, but we need to get more people involved in paying for health care.
The VA system works, MediCare works, and even MedicAid works for millions of Americans. It seems a simple act of Congress would make the tax based system of health care available on a premium pay basis, and eleviate a lot of budget restraints we have.
The Insurance Industry may not like it, but we are getting to a point where these entitlement programs may need more revenue.
Sould we raise more taxes, or allow people to pay into the system?
