Damn good video. It shows just how bad things are out there. It's even worse than I realized. This really is the Second Great Depression, and it's as bad as the first one.

It's ridiculous that there are 1.5 million homeless children and modern tent cities in America while the richest 0.1% are living in mega-mansions off of fraudulent investments and insider training. There are too many parasites in our society.

And why does a construction worker earn only a little more than $5k/yr? Sadly, the constructor worker's best option is to walk up to a senator and punch him. Then he'd get free medical care in jail and the surgery he needs to live.

This video makes another excellent case for declining housing prices.

I lived in England for a year. They are a poor country with the only exception being London. They also have American envy big time.
England has been a third rate power since before WWII. They are also now not an economic power except for the financial center of London. They are like Europe's Wall Street, and this makes them some money.
Traveling around England, Wales, Dorset, Cornwall, it is beautiful countryside. There are gorgeous landscapes, quaint towns, farms, castles, etc.
No one has any money either in these little towns. They're almost sad.
Those famous "bed and breakfast" places are actually people who have a house and no 1. jobs 2. money who have to rent a room to a total stranger to be able to survive.
In my various situations in England I met very nice people who were all trying to find a way to explain to me how fucked up America was. They were trying to convince themselves actually.
Britain has a ridiculously statified society, where a certain group attends the finest universities and boarding schools, the others do not. The class distinction is easy to learn in England, just listen to the speaker's accent.
There is no upward mobility in England, and the people accept it and are quite used to it. Look at how they piss themselves over the royal family of bums and clowns. Give me a break.
However, I recommend Britain as a place to visit, not during winter of course. What a depressing place in winter, wow it is dark at 3pm for god's sake.

I also forgot to mention the most thorougly ugly chicks I have seen were in Britain. But, to be fair, I have not yet visited Ireland.

Really, before WWII? I did not know that. I thought WWII was the main cause of the fall of the British economic superpower and the rise of the U.S. What was the 1920-1939 British economy like?

I got the impression that New England bed and breakfasts are similar.

True, but in the summer it must be bright. When I visited Germany in the summer, it was light out until 11 p.m. There was like 5 hours of darkness.

Really? That's a surprise. I thought Britain was populated by people who look like Kate Beckinsale, Keira Knightley, Claire Forlani, Emma Watson, Naomi Watts, Sienna Miller, Elizabeth Hurley, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Eva Green, Rachel Weisz. Are you saying that Hollywood has been lying to me?

Oh, sweetie, no one has been lying to you. The world is only full of beautiful, talented people such as Kim Kardass-ian.

Who's Kim Kardassian? I just did a Google search on her, but she doesn't appear to be an actress, model, or have any other kind of job. What is her talent? Why is she famous?

Competition from illegal aliens.

Couldn't watch this. Another junk "Shockumentary". Very few and questionable facts. Just a bunch of testimonials meant to elicit emotions and entertain.
The whole "haircut" thing? You have a laptop but you don't have a pair of scissors? Give me a break, people need to learn to do more for themselves. Someone interviewed poor people and they said their kids get enough to eat? Maybe they didn't want their kids taken away? What would you say? For my money, the only story worth doing is one that attempts to identify the ROOT CAUSE of these issues. I believe it's education. The schools my kids attend really don't teach problem solving or good decision making beyond what's required to maintain order. For instance, "good choices" are things like not punching someone or keeping your hands to yourselves.

Robert Rector is a piece of work...

"Shockumentary"? One child hungry or without medical care in the richest country in the world is unacceptable! When will we open our eyes to the fact that money and greed is taking this country down to its knees? Our political and economic system is broken and riddled with corruption, yet we are too busy pointing blaming fingers at each other. This is not the same country that my parents or I grew up in. We have to look beyond political, economic, racial, and religious differences. Stop thinking about Me Me and Me! We are a village, we are a global community. We need to focus on the race we all need to fight for and that is the human race.

What irritates me is that the BBC comes from the country that taught Wall Street how to blow housing bubbles and speculate on oil.

Mall -- don't point your big trembly fingers at our British cousins. Speculating is as old as the Bible is.

Your entire rant is completely irrelevant. The video has nothing to do about how England is. It is about America not England. It would still be valid if it were done by the Haiti Broadcasting Company, if there was one.

Hopefully these pathetic attack the messenger distractions (often in your case with gross distortions of the truth) will be seen for what they are, utter crap. Look at the facts, kids going hungry, people without basic healthcare. Hopefully Americans will realize they are being shafted, and start shaming the apologists of the current system.

17   TPB   2012 Feb 22, 11:39pm

America just needs to go to the Loo and have a good Shagging.
Now pip pip and cheerio, carry on, and all that then.

orly? where did you live/study? UCSC EAP? I did my year in Hull.

a lot of what you say sounds very familiar to me, but they're hardly a 3rd rate power.

and most of what they complain about wrt the US is accurate. sure, they have their own problems, but that doesn't mean their comments regarding how fucked up we are aren't accurate.

19   TPB   2012 Feb 23, 12:36pm

I bet this bloke would like to 'ave a go at telling the US, what their problems are, Aye?

Or 'ow about 'is one den? Just look at 'im
