Unbelievable tax numbers that GE pays.
(Searchlight of attention turns on Mr. Welch)
Dunno, but the fact that they responded with such vivid defensiveness and indignation would indicate that Welch is right.
Home field advantage for the incumbent, cook the books, the economy and indicators come election season. Let things crash after the votes are in, years to create new spin.

"That's a ludicrous comment. No serious person believes that the bureau of labor statistics manipulates its statistics," said Alan Krueger, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers. "The jobs report and all of their other statistics are prepared by career employees. They use the same process every month. They use the same process for Republican and Democratic administrations."
At best the numbers should be audited, in the meantime everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
Interesting to see that the Obama defense is focused on manipulation within the BLS and not outside. The household survey is a survey of households. How does the BLS verify that the survey is honestly reported? If the households decide individually or collectively to "lie Obama into office," how would the BLS know otherwise?

Serious accusations require evidence, not mere speculation. Nothing like that has been reported in any prior election year, and no one has adduced any evidence of it this year.
How does a guy like him get to be CEO of GE ?
It's easy to conclude from these remarks that he's either:
Stupid, if he really thinks the white house could and would do that.
or...
He's dishonest and lacking integrity, that is, knowing it's not true, but saying it to fire up the dimbulb base.
Apparently being brilliant and simultaneously having integrity is not what's required to be a CEO of one of the biggest corporations in America.
"Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can't debate so change numbers"
Speaks volumes about what kind of person he is, and about American business. Pretty sad.
